Odd Squad: World Turned Odd is a Made-for-TV Movie based on the TV show Odd Squad. It premiered on PBS Kids on January 15, 2018, with Ici Radio-Canada premiering it two months later on March 11, 2018, and is the second movie of the franchise following Odd Squad: The Movie as well as the second movie for Sinking Ship Entertainment as a company.Building off of the events of "Totally Odd Squad", Olympia and Otis attend a Milestone Celebration ceremony for Oprah, who is celebrating 100 years of service working at Odd Squad. As Olympia expresses interest in seeing the day when Oprah was promoted to the position of Precinct 13579's Director, Oona offers to take her and Otis back in time to when it happened, April 9th, 1983, using a gadget known as the Whoosh-You-Back-in-Time-inator. In awe at what Odd Squad life was like in 1983, Oona decides to check out the gift shop while Olympia and Otis watch Oprah and O'Donahue working to beat the Patternista, and eventually, the trio bear witness to the case's twist, taking place in an abandoned warehouse at 6 Green Street: Oprah's old boss assuming a false identity as the Patternista to fool the agent. As they leave the building and teleport back to the present at Oona's suggestion, however, they are unaware that the impact from the teleportation causes the number 6 attached to the building to flip downwards to a 9, confusing Oprah and leading her away from the building. As a result, Olympia, Otis and Oona are teleported to a Bad Future, where Odd Squad is nonexistent and is replaced by the Todd Squad, led by Odd Todd, Olive's former partner and the founder of the organization who rules over agents with an iron fist and succeeds in his goal of creating a world where oddness runs free. Realizing that the world is doomed to be destroyed if this state of living is accepted as the present day, the trio resolve to find Oprah and O'Donahue and defeat Odd Todd. Once the Whoosh-You-Back-In-Time-inator becomes destroyed in an attack from the villainous ruler, they must also seek parts to build a new one and return home.View the first trailer here, and the second trailer here.

This Is My Boomstick: Subverted. Oona returns to what is believed to be the present day, and walks into her lab only to find spare parts lying around everywhere, with one agent, Odena, working on them. She asks the agent about what happened to her lab, but she becomes confused and tells her that "the boss" destroyed all the gadgets, and doesn't think to inquire about the Whoosh-You-Back-In-Time-inator the Scientist is holding.

Immediate Self-Contradiction: Otis initially refuses to go with Olympia and Oona to 1983, citing the events of "Back to the Past" and how a timetastrophe was nearly created. Olympia explains that since they weren't born yet in 1983, there aren't any alternate selves to see, and her bringing up the idea of dressing in 80s outfits and hairstyles to blend in manages to get him to switch sides.

Odd Squad: World Turned Odd / int_2dae4381 | comment |
My Master, Right or Wrong: Subverted. Initially, those like Odena and Owen are seen as loyal members of the Todd Squad who love causing oddness just like their boss. However, later on, it's revealed that they don't like oddness, especially when it happens to themselves, and show signs of defecting from the Todd Squad. Odena is a sort of zig-zagged example, despite being The Dragon — she wants her odd problem fixed, but still has Undying Loyalty to Odd Todd and sticks by his side, having no problem antagonizing Oprah alongside him.

Land of One City: A workplace variant. Odd Todd runs the entirety of the Todd Squad from Precinct 13579, as opposed to Odd Squad as an organization being run from the Big Office. If O'Donahue's story is any indication, Precinct 13579 is the Big Office and is occupied by Odd Todd, who serves as the equivalent of the Big O in the Bad Future. The Big Office, nor the Big O himself, is seen or mentioned at all.

Oscar also isn't present outside of a brief mention by the 80’s Ms. O. Odd Squad: World Turned Odd / int_520a179d | comment |
Effective Knockoff: The Whoosh-You-Back-In-Time-inator seems to be a better and bigger version of the Before-Now Machine introduced in "6:00 to 6:05". Whereas that gadget can send someone back an entire hour with plutonium and bananas and was smaller, the Whoosh-You-Back-In-Time-inator requires no ingredients and can take someone decades into the past or future. Both gadgets also have similar activation guidelines, requiring someone to grip a sphere located onto the end of the gadget to send them back or forward in time, and both have the same blue color when activated. However, the Whoosh-You-Back-In-Time-inator functions more like a teleportation device than the Before-Now Machine, which had flashier and weirder effects.

Hair-Trigger Temper: Oprah is explicitly referred to as having had a nasty temper by O'Donahue back when the two of them were agents in 1983. Oona, Olympia and Otis can sympathize, since the Oprah from the present day is infamous for having a bad temper, being a Tiny Tyrannical Girl. However, for the Oprah in 1983, this turns out to be her Fatal Flaw, as she is unable to control her anger and ends up arguing with her boss, which gets her fired.

Let the Past Burn: Played with. It's not stated whether Odd Todd burned every single Odd Squad record or not, as O'Donahue simply mentions that he "destroyed" them. Regardless, no one knows who Oprah, and by extension the rest of the main cast, is, since all of the records are gone, including those of agents who didn't convert to making oddness under Odd Todd's rule. It's also played with concerning the fate of gadgets, as it's not made clear if Odd Todd burned them or not, but nevertheless, all of them are destroyed...except for one: gadget 43, Odd Todd's first creation, which resides at the Museum of Modern Odd.

Bond Villain Stupidity: Odd Todd manages to extract information out of Oprah about where O'Donahue and the others are going. However, before his departure, he simply taunts Oprah by telling her she's a "lousy, third-rate straw sharpener" and doesn't render her incapable in any manner, such as tying her up with rope or afflicting some sort of terrible oddness on her, instead leaving her be in his office as he and Odena depart. Sure enough, this is what enables her to come to the others' aid and help ward off Odd Todd during the climactic showdown.

Ambiguous Time Period | |
Odd Squad: World Turned Odd / int_7eb2bc15 | comment |
Ambiguous Time Period: Zig-zagged. It's not made clear when the present-day events of the movie are taking place, nor is it revealed when the Bad Future is, but the exact date Olympia, Otis and Oona time-travel to in order to relive the events of "Totally Odd Squad" is revealed: April 9th, 1983. Similarly, when going to fix their mistake at 6 Green Street, Otis tells Oprah that he, Olympia and Oona come from 30 years into the future, which would put the aforementioned present-day events as taking place in 2013. note The Season 2 finale would later put 2016 as the year that the season took place. Since the movie takes place during Season 2, whether Otis simply had a dialogue slip-up or this is simply a Continuity Snarl is up for debate — however, since Otis mentions the time period of 30 years ago twice, it's more likely that the latter is the case.

She only seeks to hire agents who get straight A's (or in the show's case, straight O's) and believes that if she creates a test and the agent fails it, it's not her fault or the test's — rather, the agent is just too stupid to ace it. She hires Todd instead of Olive because of his higher grades, and despite her presumably seeing him switch to oddness as he works under her, she is oblivious to it until he has a chance to usurp the position of Odd Squad Director from her (much like Oprah, who was also oblivious to Todd's actions, but stood her ground and refused to die in the pienado attack).

Oh, Crap!: The look on Oona's face when Odena doesn't know anything about a "lab" or a "Ms. O" is made of this trope. On that note, so are the looks on Otis' and Olympia's faces when they see Odd Todd sitting in Ms. O's chair.

Odd Squad: World Turned Odd / int_b3a2706 | comment |
Retroactive Precognition: Oona accidentally lets slip that Oprah becomes an Odd Squad Director in front of her, causing her to react with confusion as Olympia and Otis give nonverbal What Were You Thinking? reactions. She then switches from being confused to expressing doubt over becoming a Director. Once Oona, Otis and Olympia give her some words of encouragement, Oona makes things worse by revealing to her that the Patternista is her boss in disguise, eliciting another confused reaction from her and causing Olympia and Otis to give her another dose of What Were You Thinking?. It's inverted in the case of Oprah in the present day at the end of the movie, as it's revealed that she has knowledge of who Olympia, Otis and Oona are from when they helped her back in 1983, and also has knowledge of their time-traveling adventure. Not only that, but she also has knowledge of meeting them even before 1983 and seemingly predicts the future.

Grade-School C.E.O.: Chuck Shmumbers is the Chief Financial Officer of Shmumbers Incorporated, which makes juice boxes. He's also the cousin of Yucks Shmumbers, the original founder of the company, and has known Oprah since the 1700s. You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Olympia tries to give the Bad Future Oprah one of these, but it's defied by the ex-agent, who tells them that she's not coming along with them. Later on, Olympia and Otis give the Oprah from 1983 a brief speech on how she's fit to be a Director after she expresses doubt over becoming one. It ends up spurring confidence in her. For Olympia, it also doubles as slight Character Development, since she is The Perfectionist who has little to no tolerance for failing at things.

Series Continuity Error: Todd explains at Oprah’s ceremony that the reason he made his Heel–Face Turn was because of Oprah. In the Season 1 finale, when he made his turn, it seems he did it because he was terrified of the (supposed) oddness that Otto released, not because of Oprah herself.note Although, if Oprah was the one who made the plan to stop Odd Todd, then Todd technically did make his turn because of Oprah, albeit confusingly.

Otis attempts to tell him that they're from a different time period where Todd Squad doesn't exist, but O'Donahue begins to walk away. Olympia tells him that they know Oprah (not the talk show host, the ex-agent) and Otis explains that where the trio come from, they're real Odd Squad agents and Odd Todd never took over. O'Donahue is still skeptical and asks them what Oprah's favorite juice box flavor is, and when they all answer handily with "All of them", O'Donahue comes to view them as allies and takes them to his home so they can discuss things further.
