The Paleface is a 1948 American comedy western film directed by Norman Z. McLeod, starring Bob Hope as a hapless traveling dentist and Jane Russell as Calamity Jane. In the film, Hope sings the song "Buttons and Bows" (by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans), which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year. Not to be confused with Buster Keaton's 1921 short of the same name. Remade 20 years later as The Shakiest Gun in the West starring Don Knotts.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })

Framed for Heroism: Potter was hiding in a barrel shooting wildly, but he was lauded for killing the 11 attacking Indians that Jane shot from the window. Later, Jane helps Potter survive a duel with Big Joe the same way.
