Pie in the Face: The plot features a climactic pie fight, but it escalates too quickly to generate the right comic effect.

Signs of Disrepair: The movie is set in a seedy English seaside resort, there is a scene where Wally is shaving just before performing at an important reception at the town hall. His faulty electric shaver shorts out some of the town's illuminations, causing them to spell out insults.

Digital Destruction: The 2006 DVD cuts out the scene of Wally showing flowers up a porcelain pig's backside, the entire sequence of Wally and Edward in his workshop, and the beginning of the town hall scene. The deletion of the former scene now causes an Orphaned Reference, as the scene of Delia finding the flowers inside of the pig is still kept in the film.
