Transpecial is a 2013 science fiction novel by Jennifer R. Povey.Humans have made First Contact with a race of aliens called the ky'iin. Unfortunately, their body language causes such fear and aggression in humans that all attempts at communication between the species have ended with the humans attacking. Now, in response to humanity's aggression, the ky'iin are invading the solar system. The only way to avert war between the species is to find someone who can't instinctively read body language, but who also has enough linguistic talent to try to decipher ky'iin language. Only one person can be found who fits the bill: Suza McRae, a young autistic woman and aspiring translator from Mars. | |
