A standard comedy trope which, at its core, takes the form: There's Alice, Bob, Charlotte, Daniel, Ellen, Francesca, Gabriel, Hannah, Ivana, Jacqueline, Kelly, Lorenzo, Mathew, Nicole, Oliver, Patrick, Quincy, Rachel, Samantha, Tabitha, Unis, Victoria, William, Xavier, Yolanda and Zachary. Somebody says, "We praise Alice, Bob, Charlotte, Daniel... and the other people." Thus, Ellen, Francesca, Gabriel, and the rest of the Alphabet Crew are being casually insulted by being classed as not worth individual comment. Extra insult is added when "the rest" consists of only one person. Note that this phrase in itself is not necessarily meant as an insult. In Japanese, it is common for someone to refer to a group of people by a single person's name with a pluralizing suffix, like "Ken-tachi" to refer to "Ken's group," which is sometimes translated as "Ken and the rest." Examples should limit themselves to works in which the insult is obviously implied. See also Snub by Omission, My Friends... and Zoidberg. |

In Equestria: A History Revealed, everyone always forgets about Luna. The Lemony Narrator is guilty of this herself, as usually when she talks about both princesses, she just says, "Celestia (and Luna)." Even King Sombra only narrowly includes Luna's name in his paragraph-long curse of Celestia, adding a "and Luna too I suppose" at the end of it. It's almost no wonder why she turned evil.

The Simpsons: In the "Treehouse of Horror VIII" story "The Homega Man", Homer believes he's the last man alive, mourns each member of the "main" family and then laments the loss of "and all the rest", which includes the pets, Maggie and the TV. In "Eight Misbehavin'," Apu and Manjula's octuplets are made the stars of a show called "Octopia" at the Springfield Zoo. Only four of the babies (Anoop, Poonam, Sandeep, Gheet) are explicitly given stage character names and are introduced to the audience. The others (Sashi, Pria, Uma, Nabenbu) are introduced as "And the rest". Lampshaded in "Homer the Heretic" with an exchange near the end: In "Mayored to the Mob", Mark Hamill sings a parody of the Guys and Dolls' song "Luck Be a Lady": |

In a Kevin & Kell cover that parodied the album Cheap Thrills by Big Brother and the Holding Company, many of the (then) main characters got their own panel, while many of the (then) minor characters were relegated to one panel titled 'and the rest!'. (Ironically, one of those characters is Fenton, who has been upgraded to main cast with his marriage to Lindesfarne, while a few of the main characters featured have been written out.)

In Turning Red, as Mei describes 4*Town, three members have a specific persona and hobby, while the last two (Aaron Z. and Aaron T.) are tacked on almost as an afterthought. Tyler at least seems to love Z., so it might just be that Mei thinks less of the Aarons and it shows in her description of the band.

It happens to Luigi all across the board in Super Mario World. If Luigi defeats a castle, the Flavor Text still credits Mario as the one who did it. And, even if it's Luigi who defeats Bowser and saves Princess Peach, the congratulations screen explicitly mentions everyone except him. No wonder the poor guy is self-conscious. If nothing else, he at least gets a kiss on the cheek for his efforts.

The Simpsons: One comic has the Simpson family in a Lost in Space parody — the "opening" of which spoofs Gilligan's Island by announcing each family member except for Lisa, who is "the rest." Another one was done on the cover of "Big Book of Bart Simpson", with Milhouse. He was not amused. |

Every now and then, the manga provides character profiles that goes into more detail about them. The very last profile in the manga shows all five known members of Quattro Cerberus besides Bacchus (Rocker, War Cry, Yeager, Novali, and Semmes) lumped into one profile with their name as "All the other members", their magic as "stuff", their likes/dislikes as "other stuff", and remarks from the author as "Nothing, really." |

In El Goonish Shive, the comic showing the round one pairings of the card game tournament ends with a panel that says "and other pairings nobody cares about!". The reference link for the first appearances of the (then) insignificant characters in The Rant even uses the trope name to refer to them. Ironically, the then unnamed character on the right of the final panel (Sam) later became a supporting character in a relationship with Sarah and has more appearances than 3 of the featured characters while the unnamed featured character remained unnamed and had a total of 6 appearances.

In Sands of Destruction, Kyrie has a tendency to think of Morte first and the rest of the world (including his True Companions) second. For example, after Kyrie is resurrected at the Temple of Light, he's overjoyed to see Morte and with the fact that she's gone through such trouble to find him again. It takes a few moments before he realizes the rest of the team is there, too, and then he thanks them as a group.
