A brickfilm is an animated work where toy plastic bricks are brought to life using Stop Motion. The Built with LEGO aspect can be merely an artistic choice, but in many cases, characters fully acknowledge and exploit the possibilities of their anatomy. In the latter case, expect tropes like Detachment Combat, Losing Your Head or Pulling Themselves Together. In 2000, the LEGO Studios toyline officially encouraged brickfilms, with the Steven Spielberg Movie Maker Set including a camera and computer software to allow fans to make their own LEGO movies and stop motion animations. Since then, brickfilms have become a popular form of home-made media, with the rise of the internet making it possible to reach wider audiences and build larger fan communities. Many brickfilmers upload their films to YouTube and the Internet Archive. As per The Wiki Rule, there's the Brickfilms Wiki, and you can also check out the relevant article on Wikipedia. |
