A sequence of chords, in music. Musical genres have different approaches to using chord progressions. Some genres, such as Garage Rock and Punk Rock prefer catchy sequences of just a few chords. Some genres, such as jazz, Jazz Fusion and Progressive Rock use a large number of chords and are more likely to use less common chords (diminished chords and augmented chords). Some genres prefer to focus on the groove, like funk, so a song may be a two-chord vamp.
Certain chord sequences are notable.
