Multiple individuals sharing the same identity, without trying to pass as one individual. Rather than just sharing a name these characters share a name tied to a larger idea or concept, like multiple superheroes using the same name and costume. One of the common ways to implement this is for a character to be killed or move on to another identity and have their legacy taken up by someone new, only for them to later return to using said identity alongside their Legacy Character. Persons who share an identity may be subject to Amalgamated Individual when others mistake them for, or intentionally conflate them with, a single individual. When a number of characters are intentionally masquerading as one that is a Collective Identity. Alliance of Alternates is when an identity is shared by allies because they are versions of the same character from different dimensions. Compare I Am Spartacus, which is when multiple people claim falsely to share an identity to protect the true holder of the identity. |
