Getter Robo Devolution: The Last Three Minutes of the Universe is a manga by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (of Linebarrels of Iron and Ultraman fame) that comprises an Alternate Continuity of the Getter Robo series. The manga first came out on December 12, 2015 and ran for five volumes.In it, Doctor Saotome brings together Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Musashi Tomoe to pilot his Getter Robo against the monstrous 'Unevolved.' However, as the new Getter Team discovers, there's more layers to this conflict than first appears, as it turns out there are other Getter Teams across multiple worlds. But what happened to those other worlds? And what does it spell for this world?The manga retains the darker themes seen in other parts of the franchise, complete with decidedly less than Family-Friendly violence. It also features a substantial number of Mythology Gags and Continuity Nods to previous Getter Robo works.While it has yet to receive an Animated Adaptation like other Getter works, Devolution has been released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Additionally, Devolution's Getter Robo made an appearance in Super Robot Wars 30 as part of the final DLC wave (alongside Getter Robo Armageddon, which had appeared in the base game), with new voice actors for its Getter Team, and a theme composed by Eiichi Shimizu. | |
