Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })Jiya (ジヤ Jiya) is a short three chapter manga illustrated by Masakazu Katsura and written by Akira Toriyama that ran from December 2009 to January 2010 in the Weekly Shonen Jump. Written before Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Jiya has some tenuous connections to Dragon Ball without being a clear canonical work in that franchise, unlike Jaco. The manga centers around a Galactic Patrolman named Jiya who appears to be a large robot-like alien but is in fact a tiny creature who pilots the suit and can control living beings by entering their body and taking over their brain. Jiya arrives on Earth to investigate a suspicious report sent by one of his colleagues only to find that the planet is seemingly living in terror of an evil and powerful vampire named Vamp. After meeting and befriending a rich party girl named Beniya Kaede and her chauffeur Yukio Kyumonji, Jiya finds that there may be more to the situation on Earth than there first appears.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); })

Loose Canon: With Dragon Ball. The Galactic Patrol and the Galactic King are the only references made to anything from Dragon Ball, and none of the events form this story are ever mentioned in that franchise.

Dark Is Not Evil: Vamp, before being controlled by Steth, was a relatively non-violent vampire despite having the power to cause mass destruction. He still drank blood, but not enough at a time to kill anyone. When Steth stops possessing Vamp's body, Jiya says that Vamp should be allowed to leave, as he was a victim too.

Our Vampires Are Different
Jiya (Manga) / int_9f63d4f1 | comment |
Our Vampires Are Different: Vamp is far more monstrous-looking than some of the vampires that appeared in Dragon Ball, and is also fairly powerful, able to destroy cities using energy blasts. He still does drink blood like a standard vampire, though.

For the Evulz: Steth's only motivation is to kill humans and drink the blood of young women for his own enjoyment while in the body of Vamp.
