Diana Ross (born March 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan) is a prolific American singer and actress. She was a member of highly influential The Supremes before embarking on a successful solo career in music and film. Her solo career started in earnest in 1970 with her self-titled debut album featuring such hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)." Two years later, she made her film debut in Lady Sings The Blues, a bio film about Billie Holiday. From that point, she remained a fixture in the entertainment world, especially throughout The '70s and The '80s, scoring number one hits and acting in several projects. She is also a gay icon, known for her LGBT advocacy and dance music aimed towards the gay community, especially as her song "I'm Coming Out" became an unofficial gay anthem.Ross is also credited for discovering The Jackson 5 along with Michael Jackson, and she and Michael remained friends until his death, so much so that he named her the secondary guardian of his children, after his mother.Ross is mother of actress Tracee Ellis Ross, and mother-in-law to singer/actress Ashlee Simpson.

Captain Obvious: The chorus of "It's My House" is unintentionally this. It simply goes, "It's my house, and I live here."

Coming-Out Story: While "I'm Coming Out" is not one for Diana herself, it has been widely adopted by the LGBT community as a staple of pride celebrations. She proudly embraced this fact as a long time ardent supporter of the queer community.
