Hello, I Must Be Going! is the second solo studio album recorded by singer/songwriter/drummer and Genesis lead singer Phil Collins. It was released through Virgin Records in the United Kingdom, and Atlantic Records in the United States, on 5 November 1982.Phil began work on his second album in the summer of 1982, following the promotion of the Genesis album Abacab. He had recovered emotionally from his first divorce and wanted to write happier songs, as the quote up top suggests. He decided to dabble in New Wave Music and a little Soft Rock. While he wrote most of the songs, he also included a cover of "You Can't Hurry Love", which signified his work on trying to incorporate R&B into his solo sound. The album went triple-Platinum in both the US and the UK. Seven singles were released in support of the album, but only "You Can't Hurry Love" was a hit, reaching #1 in the UK and #10 in the United States. "I Don't Care Anymore" barely scraped the US Top 40, struggling to #39 on the Billboard Hot 100.Phil supported the album with a tour of Europe and North America during the winter of 1982-83.

Face on the Cover: A colour side profile of Collins viewed from his right with prominent shadows over a blue background, making it look like he's trying to say goodbye and leave as the album title implies. Additionally, the fact this trope is used again after Face Value shows a sign that Collins would make this trope a recurring trend for all his subsequent studio albums. The 2016 remaster recreates the cover with an older Collins.

One-Man Band: The video for "You Can't Hurry Love" shows Phil performing all the instruments. He would repeat it later in the decade with "Two Hearts".
