Miguel first entered the music industry in 2006, but his first album All I Want Is You wouldn't be released until 2010 due to a breach of contract lawsuit from his old record label and Jive Records, the label he later signed with. While the dispute went on, Miguel would write and produce for artists such as Usher, Asher Roth and Musiq Soulchild. When the album was finally released, it became a Sleeper Hit, propelled by the strengths of it's singles "Sure Thing", "All I Want Is You", and "Quickie". From there, Miguel would become a staple in 2010s R&B, and release three more albums during that period, two of which were Grammy-nominated.Style-wise, Miguel's music is a more mainstream-friendly version of Alternative R&B, leaning more towards Contemporary R&B, but mixed in with other genres such as electronica, hip-hop, rock, and funk. He is also a sometimes-actor, acting in films such as Live by Night and Detroit. | |
