The SteelDrivers is a Bluegrass band from Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 2005, the group had performed in various bluegrass festivals, before signing to Rounder Records in 2008, with Chris Stapleton as their new lead vocalist. Their self-titled debut album was released in the same year, and reached no. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums chart (and no. 57 on the Top Country chart).Stapleton left the band in 2010 after recording the second album Reckless, and was replaced by Gary Nichols, who led the band to win its first Grammy in 2015 with The Muscle Shoals Recordings. The band had seen two more turnovers for its lead singer, while lead guitarist and founding member Mike Henderson left in 2011. Its current line-up include fiddler Tammy Rogers, bassist Mike Fleming, lead vocalist & guitarist Matt Dame, mandolinist Brent Truitt, and banjoist Richard Bailey. | |

"Hear the Willow Cry" is about a man who had been sentenced to death for killing either his unfaithful wife, her lover, or both. For his final request, he asks his body to be buried underneath the willow tree, where the rest of his family are also buried. | |
