Roleplay Retcon is a semi-improvisational anthology Actual Play podcast that attempts to use storytelling games or Tabletop RPGs to improve movies that are infamous for either being a commercial flop, a critical dud, or being a disappointment for some other reason. The core cast (Benjamin Gray, Jensie Britt, and Alex Blasius), take turns running the campaigns, which vary in length. In between longer series are shorter "one-shot" remakes or stereotypical movie-discussion-podcast-style episodes. Most series or one-shots feature a different game, a guest player, and a musical guest (usually an indie band or composer) that provides most of the soundtrack.The podcast began in late 2018 and new episodes are released every other Wednesday.Thus far, the podcast has remade the following movies:Main SeriesThe core of the podcast are series that last several episodes. The shortest of these is four episodes, and the longest ones clock in at 14. Each of these series begins with "Rookie Camp," an introductory episode with no roleplaying elements that introduces the movie, the guest player (if there is one), the musical guest (if there is one) and the game being played. Each series ends with "Rehash," a wrap-up episode where the cast compares their remake to the original movie. | |
