Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_10e22e6e | comment |
Can't Believe I Said That: The new MCStudio, understandably, found it difficult to process the reveal of his original counterpart being Driven to Suicide, and mentions to Alt Samantha that it’s better that they don’t interact. Unfortunately for him, she immediately turns her back on him as a result, him regretting the way he phrased it soon after. Sayori scolds him for not wording it correctly soon after, as a matter of fact. They do fix things up later, though.

Age Lift | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_121b3725 | comment |
Age Lift: For several characters, this is downplayed, with a good few being aged down to younger ages. Following The Final Showdown, Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy (all originally adults) are aged down to teenagers, with their designs from Nintendo High being their main Errorverse designs. In Benjamin and Grace’s case, even before getting directly involved in the stories, they are both 16/17 and are instead high-school dropouts. They both become 13 by The Cursed Engine, with their siblings also being aged down to fit. For the Catto Boi cast, the main three are not adults and are instead early teens. Errorverse Bently Jones/Clone!Ben, who was 13-14 in his animation of origin, is instead 12 years old here when brought to life in Real World Chaos. Errorverse FC!Tinsley is 10 years old compared to his Omegaverse counterpart, who is 13-14. Played with between alternate timeline counterparts of different characters, with some becoming a little bit older as a result of their circumstances and some becoming younger. Played straight during the Epilogue to the “He Who Destroys Arc”, with most characters getting aged up by one year at the very least and three years at the very most.

Another Side, Another Story
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_12d9447 | comment |
Another Side, Another Story: Between episodes of The Lost Games Season 5’s first half, there are times that are discovered by Neo and his group related to Joilean_Clone, helping her see the good in making more friends, even if Error_Code/BetaBrian clearly isn’t willing to risk it thanks to Entity. The Multi Group timeline of NAMELESS_EVIL_666.EXE has this, with three different sides of the story being told through groups led by each member of Team Lilac. This eventually connects once they all find their way to one another. Being a Perspective Flip on The Cursed Engine 2, The Cursed Engine 3.0 is naturally this.

Annoying Younger Sibling: A Genre Savvy example for MPlayer, who is having to take care of a trio of rowdy younger brothers (CPlayer, GPlayer and VPlayer) alongside his evil scheming. This is downplayed in that, despite all the trouble it gives him, he clearly doesn’t want them hurt.

Badass Adorable: Little X, while being a perfectly innocent child and a really sweet one at that, shouldn’t be underestimated by those picking on his buddies. Lucia, Alicia and Finnegan qualify as some of the cutest characters in the Errorverse, yet are all capable of kicking butt in their own ways. Smol Nitro is a truly fierce protector of his siblings and little buddies, and yet he’s so cute and cuddly at the same time.

At the climax of The Lost Games’ third season, Beefhan shows up and aids in putting Error_Code in his place, angered at him for hurting his adopted daughter mercilessly. It’s enough to give Neo and Luther the opening they need to finish off Error_Code once more, rendering his plans ruined for the second of three times. Simply put, his daughter AND Neo owed him a lot for that day.

Adaptation Expansion | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_23473ae7 | comment |
Adaptation Expansion: In contrast to canon, the Errorverse integrates storylines of each universe together as understandably as possible. For characters not seen in certain media for a while, they get their own time in the spotlight as well, such as the Freedom Fighters and other incarnations of Sonic the Hedgehog. The Errorverse variant of Tower of Millennium expands the currently present story with a trio of further campaigns, as well as a finale connecting each one together. In the Errorverse canon, the sixth Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter Takeover has Nitro and Nova join in, with more questions answered from them and the other cast members. The ending of Doki Doki Takeover! has the Literature Club finally have a way outside of their world, though mainly through the FNF universe, thanks to Benjamin and Grace’s methods. They are able to access further locations from The Cursed Engine onwards, however. The Shatterverse and all three currently-canon Shatterspaces are present amongst the reach of the Errorverse. However, not only do Nitro and Nova also have their own Shatterspace counterparts, despite never getting caught in the Paradox Prism’s blast back in the series, but a new fourth Shatterspace is introduced, that being the fanmade Deepfreeze Domain by Son1c. The OMEGA Universe in the Errorverse is basically the original Undertale OMEGA Timeline, albeit expanded to cover more video game residents than just Undertale AUs. Despite there being no indication as to whether or not Sonic Prime’s Shatterverse is merely Sonic’s world, but literally shattered, the worlds are instead their own thing in the Errorverse, with an aftermath presented to everyone following the Chaos Council’s defeat and banishment from New Yoke City. It’s gradually revealed, and outright confirmed in Lone Guardian, that there are nine Chaos Emeralds in the Errorverse as opposed to the classic seven, the other two having been created shortly after The End’s defeat in Sonic Frontiers.

Adaptation Deviation | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_23a1e2a9 | comment |
Adaptation Deviation: The Sonic Forces rewrite moves away from the controversial stuff to fit its more Darker and Edgier tone. In part thanks to the age-halt effect, the original The Little Mermaid (1989) and its sequel don’t happen outside of their respective media, with the Smiths being Ariel’s first contact with humans. Ariel’s Beginning does happen before the effect kicks in, though. The Errorverse itself throws a big spanner into the Sonic.exe Nightmare Beginning saga’s works, which is: Kickstarted by Galum giving Chaos Hunter a Heel-Face Turn The Tower of Millennium being destroyed to keep its dark power out of the wrong hands Sark undergoing his own turn to good during that time Junter going on to reconcile with Sonic and mend his trust with his friends Diana breaking up with Jaiz to pursue her own path Exetior willingly reverting everyone back to normal (albeit with their memories intact) and Sitch-Lite becoming more sympathetic to demons. All these points ultimately cause the NU to lose a canon position in the end, and that the Evil Vs Oblivion clash ended with the truly good side winning. The Wrath Soul’s third instalment onwards doesn’t happen in the Errorverse, thanks to Benjamin’s intervention changing the course of history for Daisy and Lily.

The Bad Guy Wins: While Neo is thankfully safe and sound following The Lost Games, Neo_1940 ultimately wins, in that he is able to torment BetaBrian for eternity. Since this is an extremely rare occurrence of an ending where a villain actually succeeds canonically, it even shocks Nitro, who makes a promise to not let evil win any further. Character Development
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_3b113b7 | comment |
Character Development: BetaBrian, in The Lost Games, initially started out as a resentful fallen hero who outright loathed Neo for taking his place. By the end of the storyline, he became more than willing to replace the memories of all the new friends he made with Neo’s, all so that the kid wouldn’t be suffering trauma on that scale ever again. So not only had he rightfully reclaimed his position as his Calteron’s guardian, but he went out as a selfless hero. While leaving a first impression as a signature jerk, Nicolas Smith does warm up to his step-kids a lot better as time goes on, especially stopping his hate against them upon hearing about Nitro’s depression, of which he realises his stern talk just made it worse. Drack, initially in it to avenge his father, changes his ways when Brian NE saves his life and opens his eyes to the harsh truth of his so-called “team”. It’s to the point where he willingly aids Brian NE and his companions and eventually outright betrays Zero-X to free Christina from captivity and get his abusive father indirectly murdered. Arbiter/Abodant starts out the AR3Y N THE C1EF series as a broken soul, drowning many of his sorrows in alcohol and blaming himself for all the mishappenings that occurred in Arby n’ the Chief. Over time, however, he moves past this outright, able to stretch past his mistakes of shunning all around him and going for the greater good in his actions. It’s this that allows him to free Chief/Shou from the HATE’s control and to truly stop Eugene in his tracks. A reversed case happened to the second MCStudio (this variant becoming MPea) during Real World Chaos, with some heavy brain damage fracturing his original memories and causing him to lose his carefree attitude, which even concerned Benjamin and AE!Luis, who dropped their hatred of him after seeing his new state.

Blessed with Suck: Yishu goes through this, gaining the ability to feel different emotions through vials, just like Ink!Sans, but at the cost of being able to feel proper emotions. He vents this to Samantha, especially with him being cursed with being unable to care, and that he’d never be able to feel the same way the next day. And worse, he’s led to believe that nobody can change that for him at all.

Bittersweet Ending: In The Lost Games Season 5, Neo is finally able to gain closure on everything that happened, at the cost of BetaBrian not being able to go back out of The Host’s world ever again. As such, Neo ends up forgetting EVERYTHING that happened with BetaBrian throughout the whole series. And BetaBrian is left to suffer. Rise of the Fallen concludes with Region’s madness getting stopped, but he gets shipped to a secret facility in Calteron as punishment. Acceptance of Loss borders between this and a Downer Ending; while Puhoi is defeated, he’s still out at large, just waiting for the opportunity to strike again. And worse still, Luis_PLAYER perishes without any positive closure. Project: MCGAMEJOLTER.bin ends with Puhoi’s end, though Brian dies stopping him.

Needless to say, this comes back to bite him HARD when the virus attacking those worlds prioritises him to eradicate. Badass Family: The Smiths (Nitro, Evo, Rosie, Christina, Susan and Marc) all demonstrate this to some degree, each having their own important role to play throughout the crossover stories. Karilvatch and Freedomia/Emily serve this well, due to their paralleling abilities that one can succeed with if the other can’t. Benjamin is already pretty badass on his own, but back that up with a whole family of angels and you get a pretty awesome family. Same applies with Grace and the Dearests with their demon traits. Lucia has a gift for being able to heal others and pack a serious punch in combat, the latter of which also extends to Alicia, her younger sister, and Finnegan, her surrogate younger brother.

Can't Get Away with Nuthin': The consequences of crimes are played straight in the virtual Calteron, as even after Enzo and Nerila managed to calm down Reemah and stop her from going too far than she already had searching for Brian, she still had to face the consequences for these crimes and had to redeem herself by facing life in Calteron’s prison. Sadly, it’s only fair for everyone who almost suffered her senseless wrath that they have justice, considering many were injured and some killed. Region himself, following Rise of the Fallen, is sentenced to a secret facility within Calteron for his crimes. And it was only fair that those who lost loved ones to his malice had justice, even though he was clearly paranoid about it. Thankfully, said facility is permanently shut down once their harmful acts towards Region are rightfully exposed.

Cynicism Catalyst: ERR!SoniKiller was created from a version of Sonic doomed for a long time in a failed timeline. Red-Sparrow, the main antagonist of Oldum77’s Crazed Edition games, seems to hold no canon significance to the baseline of games. The Errorverse, however, has him co-existing with regular people, even being portrayed as a smart individual as seen during Yishu's offer to him, and even getting some dedicated action where he demonstrates he can be more than a wimp sometimes, which makes sense since he's canonically Respiro reincarnated into the opposite personality of him.

Adaptation Relationship Overhaul
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_72ce3f54 | comment |
Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Sonic’s family differs between canon continuities, but in the Errorverse, the general Sonic Underground and Archie Sonic family bonds he has are merged together. Jules and Bernadette are his parents, Queen Aleena is his aunt and Manic and Sonia remain his siblings. In the original Sally.exe Continued Nightmare: Eye of Three, Sark Cream was seen as Sark’s girlfriend, which of course led to controversy. In the Errorverse, however, prior to being Killed Off for Real, Sark Cream is instead a younger sister-like figure to Sark. Boyfriend’s family line in canon is only barely known, with Ritz the Rat confirmed as an adopted brother to him. Here, his overall family is linked from many headcanons, such as MicanPloz’s Genderswaps’ idea of having Kaity as a little sister and Oliver and Alice as his parents, Concert Conundrum’s headcanon of Hatsune Miku herself being his big sister, and Big Brother Mod bringing Ben’s... well, big bro into the family tree. Same applies to Grace’s family. In the Archie Comics’ 25 Years Later run, Skye Prower was the son of Tails and Mina in that timeline. Here, her gender is changed to female, and she is instead OMEGA!Tails’s younger sister.

Crossover-Exclusive Villain: There’s quite the abundance of these that don’t show up in other media, introduced at different times. SoniKiller, the Greater-Scope Villain of the Errorverse and the one who kickstarts the whole mess, being the lead antagonist of Sonic.EXE All-Stars and The Killer Files. Richard is the overarching main antagonist of both Gacha Life: The Damned’s fourth season and More than One Universe, though comes to his senses in the latter story. Tarallexer/Tarilvax is this for SegaSonic.GENESIS, and Error_Code.666 takes this role from him in The Lost Games. Region is introduced in Rise of the Fallen, and finds redemption in that same story. Corrupt, a sentient Vira-Bot, is the lead antagonist of The Cursed Engine, though takes a Heel–Face Turn later on. Shalian and Seak are this for the duration of Finale.EXE, but the former changes for the better in Chaotic Evil. Trihex (at least Heljin using him) and Seak share the role of main antagonists of Chaotic Evil, the former of which redeems himself in the following story, and the latter as Reak in True Meaning of Fear. Insanity Nitro bears the role of Big Bad in NAMELESS_EVIL_666.EXE, though thanks to amnesia, he changes for the better in Phantom Replay. Phantom Trihex and the Phantom Master, the latter of which possessing AE!Luis, are the main antagonists of Phantom Replay. While the evil Doug Bowser plays a temporary role of villainy in The Cursed Engine 2 and doesn’t become the big bad until Final Confliction, Virus.BIN holds this role in The Cursed Engine 2 before the baton is passed. Brian_Corrupt wields this role in The Cursed Engine 2’s genocide run and Inner Demons, finally put to rest after Wade gives him a much-needed reality check. A Mad Scientist takes the role of big bad for the entirety of Lone Guardian. Duxiyn is a downplayed example for Executable Revamp, in that his antagonism is only the result of wanting the whole universe to understand him for who he really is. Nulla serves as this for ERROR_SMG4: The Next-Gen, though makes a Heel–Face Turn of his own to stop Raian from dying. Finally, there’s Puhoi, who almost causes the destruction of the entire Errorverse in his madness, as well as taking innocent lives with him. And MPlayer, a deranged goofball who wants everything for himself because he's a greedy prick, serves as the main antagonist of Errorverse X Minecraft. Suffice to say, he holds the record for being a funny, yet dangerous, villain.

Adaptational Nice Guy | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_82a64c4b | comment |
Adaptational Nice Guy: Following the events of Bowser’s Fury, Bowser and his Koopa army permanently get this, as the King of Koopas is genuinely happy with Mario freeing him from his corruption AND protecting his son, which gives him the nudge to never kidnap Peach again. Due to Freedom Planet: Resurgence undergoing Canon Welding in the Errorverse, Lilac and Spade both settle their past issues during that story, meaning they don’t hold anything bitter against each other from then on. Spade even disbanded the Red Scarves at one point, instigating himself as a member of Team Lilac from then on. Chaos Hunter/Junter becomes exceptionally nicer following Galum’s intervention during SegaSonic.GENESIS, not only being able to patch things up with those from his world, but also serving as vital support for Galum during his times of self-doubt. By extension, Sark is arguably much nicer following his redemption, being a true ally to those he can trust. Even before then, his Gratuitous Rape side is outright removed from his backstory, instead having a Napoleon Delusion act to him. Sky, an iconic fangirl of Benjamin, gets this a lot, not only regretting her rash actions, but also getting to fight SoniKiller, her tormentor, patch things up with Benjamin and Grace, and even earn herself better respect in the universe. Benjamin and Grace themselves uphold this just as much, not even being the Fearless Fool duo they are in the base game and repeatedly aiming to help out people where possible. While not starting out as one, EXE/Faker does get better, in part due to being permanently cursed to remain in his neutral Sonic state following an attempt to rebel. The Fazbear Entertainment in the OMEGA Universe are much better off and less risk-savvy than their canon counterparts, with the OMEGA Universe’s version of the Mega Pizzaplex actually being safe for all people. Ash Mongoose is often considered a jerk towards those trying to be with Mina, as well as being in a one-sided abusive relationship with her over time. However, in the Errorverse, he understands by Final Confliction that he has to let go of her to allow her to live a healthier life. In addition, he changed his ways enough to assist Nitro, Mina and Smol Nitro in their journey to reach the Rainbow Grand Star before Evil Doug Bowser.

Back from the Dead: Sarah is forcefully dragged out of the afterlife by Error_Code in The Lost Games Season 4, with Luther and Lily coming back themselves to save their friend and stop him. In Rise of the Fallen, Cosmo, having perished a little later than Sonic X in the Errorverse, is revived by Evo’s efforts. Caffrin was reincarnated sometime after Sonic EX and before Rise of the Fallen, though was in stasis for a while until Evo and Enzo found her and got her to safety. Etricia, Nat and Clide are revived by Oliver and Alice Miku during the early stages of Inner Demons. Sans and Alphys, both having been killed off in Glitchtale, are fully revived in The Symbiote Apocalypse in time for the endgame. During the AR3Y N THE C1EF: Broken Identities series, Amber Lightvale is revealed to be still alive while dormant in her stolen body. However, thanks to Bête Noire abusing a dangerous power, it causes the two to split permanently into separate entities. Swap!Sans, Swap!Papyrus, Swap!Chara, Outer!Sans and Fell!Sans are all revived by Yishu in The Crisis Continues, mainly in a vein to erase all traces of the X-Event. All the characters who didn’t survive during Oldum77’s .EXE saga get revived again in time for Project: MCGAMEJOLTER.bin, with each aiming to find the missing inhabitant of their respective worlds while trying to stop Puhoi in his tracks.

Commonality Connection
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_8984e5d1 | comment |
Commonality Connection: Nitro and Reemah both quickly find this after meeting for the first time, especially since both inherit the Sacred Ring used to put a halt to the plans of both SoniKiller and Tarallexer respectively. They even form a Like Brother and Sister relationship out of it. Evo and Sid Chang, in the backstory, get along quickly due to their equal interest in technology and robotic gizmos. They continue to bond over it once they cross paths again. Evo and Caffrin (alongside Wade and MCGamer later on) share the common trait of each being pansexual, having formed a “Pan Gang” out of it together. Nerila and V_Enzo get one from a couple of points; their equal interest in drawing, and the fact they each own a rare Kirby plushie from the 19’s (with Enzo owning TWO). In the former connection’s case, the two are seen having a drawing contest in the ending of The Lost Games. While a bit more indirect, Rosie and Patch (the latter from the Omegaverse) get on very well due to their equal interest in characters from the vast ocean; Rosie admires mermaids, while Patch shows great interest in pirates, even roleplaying as one. Despite being unable to actually meet in person, they’re fully capable of chatting through their online chats. Amelia and Tara share one from the fact that they were each once Shrinking Violets as demonstrated by their initial shyness to be around others. Richard and Sarah both quickly border on this with the fact that they each went through hell in living and took over a video game disc each as monsters. Clide doesn’t take long to bond with Evo following his revival, due to their equal interest in technology in some form. Canon Sonic and SMG4 end up bordering on this, due to both having suffered harsh criticism of their works and experiencing their worst mental states because of it. The former even takes his past experience as a chance to give SMG4 advice on how to overcome the mental stress it’s putting on him as a whole. Samantha and Yishu eventually find this during the former’s first story, due to their equal appeal for art and creation that gives them the chance to reconcile and bond further.

Amongst the EXEs, Little X and Exester both quality, both being very gentle in their ways and not wanting to lay harm to a single soul. The TriClone of one timeline, who two of the guards form a family-like relationship with due to his youth and innocence. In his introduction, VA_MC fits this well, especially since he was far too innocent to understand how abusive his family were to him. The Smol ones, 100%! What’s not to love about their innocence? Xei, Vea and Tim, three bystanders of MPlayer’s madness, are innocent kids dragged into his crazed schemes all because he chose to attack them For the Evulz. Thankfully, Nitro, Amelia, Lucia and Karilvatch are able to keep them safe once the kids reach their Minecraft realm. Forever Child Tinsley, of course, meets this well, simply enjoying life as it comes in the Forever World.

Alternate History: In the Area 15 universe, it’s shown that Joey Drew Studios ended out getting off a lot better than its canon counterpart. The company’s staff are treated with utmost respect, there are common tourist visits to the studio, the Ink Machine is in a more controlled environment, and the spirit of the animations are fully showcased, to the point where the GBC allowed it to be broadcast on their children’s channels. This variant’s justified, since Harold Drew took his lineage from Joey Drew himself. In Amanda the Adventurer, Riley Park is the one that investigates the cursed tapes and tries to piece things together. In the Errorverse, however, it’s some of the main characters that research these tapes instead, which leads to Amanda and Wooly getting thrown OUT of the tapes, alongside Hameln Entertainment losing control of the very devil they came in contact with, guaranteeing their downfall. Zaslav was confirmed to have been fired from Warner Bros. in the Errorverse’s history, henceforth boosting the company’s positive reception for future generations.

Abusive Parents | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_b11ac9f5 | comment |
Abusive Parents: AE!Luis suffers this from his father following birth, eventually snapping and burning down the village he resided in in his insanity. He’s later revived without said father. Needless to say, AE!Luis’s mother, in spirit, was ashamed of her husband for his abusive behaviour. Like with Doki Doki Blue Skies, Monika, prior to her available escape from the DDLC game, had parents who were forcing her to take too many extracurricular activities and cram school against her will just to groom her into succeeding them in running their family business, even calling her ‘human garbage’ when she refused to take over said business. As such, the Literature Club served as her escape from this stressful life, and the permanent escape of her and her friends from that reality couldn’t have been more happy for her. By extension, following the death of her mother in a car crash, Natsuki’s father struggled and was driven to alcoholism by the stress. This resulted in him being abusive to Natsuki, even without Monika’s past tampering, beating her up at times and not approving of her manga interests, forcing her to have to shoplift, find coins under vending machines, and get into baking to keep fed. VA_MC’s family was outright abusive to him, having taken advantage of his innocence to leave him unaware of the truth of his upbringing; and to kick it in further, they dumped him into a river in a bag before he eventually got free at Mobius and was found by Nitro and Amelia, who took him in themselves. Clide’s foster parents weren’t much better, having maliciously named him originally after a trash bin brand and eventually kicking him out to die alone. Understandably, being Happily Adopted by Etricia and her family was a welcome break for him. Soft Benjamin, like in canon, is on the receiving end from Frank Fairest and Marilyn Mairest, though this is subverted once he’s Happily Adopted by the Mikus. It’s eventually revealed that Sakuron was on a sliding scale of this, being outright abusive to Drack at worst and neglective at best. Following Vacation Disaster, his eyes are opened to this harsh truth, prompting him to secretly switch sides, which he makes fully known as soon as his father discovers his betrayal.

Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: Monika is quick on the draw to cover Sayori’s eyes whenever something suggestive comes up, especially since she’s seen enough to know where it’s going. She’ll do the same for other people she’s friends with. Evo does the same around WS!Daisy and Lily, ensuring they don’t have to know about such stuff and that their innocence isn’t shattered because of it. While Rian has a habit of doodling inappropriate stuff solely to annoy IRL Luis and IRL Ivan, he does everything in his power to prevent his siblings from having to see it.

Berserk Button: Any failed timeline that involves cruel torture is this to Chara AND ERR!SoniKiller, who will call players out on seeming to enjoy the experience. The former even goes as far as to indirectly kill a player repeatedly accessing one such timeline. The presence of Arcel, the rogue angel leader, within range of Lone Guardian!Nitro will anger the latter a LOT, especially since his monstrous acts towards Trihex caused MANY of the failed timelines in the first place, as well as Trihex’s corruption at Heljin's hands. Do not. Mock. Softie’s. Gay. Relationship. In. Benjamin’s. Presence! Unless you want to rest in literal pieces. Tardy discovers this the hard way when he mocks Softie for his relationship and incurs Soft Grace to intervene. Accidental Kiss: Nitro and Pikachu accidentally get into one during Sonic Forces Remade’s Overclocked storyline, though this one was mainly as a light-hearted prank Amy and Sonic thought up for a good laugh. And better still, it works, the pair not minding the prank since it gave a good laugh in the dark times. Happens at some point during Real World Chaos, where Flowey Doug forced IRL Lean and MCGamer to do the "Fake Kiss Challenge" by tying them up, said challenge basically having the two catch some paper with their lips. Only thing is, the paper fell down late and... they actually kissed. Flowey Doug could hardly contain his laughter as a result. They might as well be a couple.

Backstory | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_e8d46c29 | comment |
Backstory: Error_Code didn't ask to become who he was, nor begged for it. Before this, he was an untested prototype of Brian for a Gacha Life game, with things being similar but very different to the canon Calteron, since their world was a literary sentient video game world in a disc. They were mostly living their best lives till one day, someone decided to use his game's base engine to create Neo's Gachaverse, leading to everything, including his friends, to get deleted, leaving only BetaTest[Brian] alive and copying his code to create Neo's avatar. What the developer didn't know was that the game was very much alive and he just destroyed what was once Beta's home to create a new one, which was the Utopian Islands, leaving Beta heartbroken and devastated when his friends got deleted. Over time, after years of loneliness and grief, he grew hateful of Neo and his entire home, and swore that he'd destroy everything he had just like him, leading him to becoming Error_Code and infecting Neo's code and Virtual Gachaverse to mentally torture him for many years to come until he could finally regain a physical body. Even going further as to using Sarah and capturing humans to use as NPCs to rebuild his world. Puhoi has one of the most complex backstories, first being mistaken for him immediately wanting bloodthirsty revenge on everyone the moment Halsi died, only for Whom Vowed To Destroy: Puhoi's Tale to reveal a much deeper story of what truly happened that no-one in the Errorverse knows or remembers. After Halsi was assassinated, Audrey had caught suspicions of Kyuzi being responsible for deceiving the Errorverse Guardians, even further revealing that Kyuzi was once a close friend of Audrey, who felt betrayed to not only realise what Kyuzi did, but disgusted in Kyuzi for putting the ERGs to shame, joining the ERGs in response and forming a resistance after Kyuzi caused an apocalypse in his home. When he was captured by Kyuzi, Kyuzi tried to talk things with his best friend, how he was "doing what's best for the world" by rebuilding it into his image. Audrey was against this, even ratting out on regretting ever making friends with Kyuzi, resulting in the two clashing before Kyuzi emerged victorious against Audrey and beat him to the punch, injecting a fragment of his dark magic onto Audrey, thus marking the cause on why he became Puhoi.

It’s enough to give Neo and Luther the opening they need to finish off Error_Code once more, rendering his plans ruined for the second of three times. Simply put, his daughter AND Neo owed him a lot for that day. During Chaotic Evil, after Nitro got knocked out following distracting Heljin’s army and causing them to crash and lose their precious time, a certain group of old Child Hood Friends arrive to give him some much-needed shelter and recovery. Cool Big Bro / Cool Big Sis: There are quite a few cool big sisters in the Errorverse. Reemah is looked up to in this manner by Lean. Monika serves as one to the Literature Club, and Softie looks up to her in this manner as well. Lana Loud sees Ronnie-Anne Santiago as one, the latter able to teach her the ropes of skateboarding. Christina serves as this to both Evo and Rosie. Ariel is seen as one by the Smiths after her aid to Rosie and Evo at one point. Sky is one to Ski. Upon getting a body of her own again, Lily becomes this to WS!Daisy and Evo. Milla is looked up to in this manner by Marshmallow. Etricia is like a sister to Wade, Nat and Clide. Likewise, the Errorverse has a few cool big bros. Tails, while not in a romantic relationship with Mina, is not hesitant to defend her from Ash’s abusive acts towards her. Thankfully, the lattermost does get better with time. Nitro is one to Evo and Rosie, even before Christina’s arrival. SD!Enzo serves as this towards SD!April, kicking asses of any potential harm and taking care of SD!April as she suffers from an alien-induced illness. By extension, Barry, the nameless protagonist of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, looks up to Nitro in this manner, who serves as a mentor to them, as Sonic once was to him. LG!Nitro is one to TS!Brian, giving him much-needed comfort and support after the trauma they both went through. LG even gets TS some much-needed hospital treatment once they discover the OMEGA Universe for the first time.

Canon Immigrant | |
Errorverse: Tropes #-C (Roleplay) / int_fc7c4f92 | comment |
Canon Immigrant: Amongst Sonic locations, Amy’s Animal Rescue Island from the LEGO Sonic sets is an official area of canon Mobius in the Errorverse, situated just by the coast of Emerald Town. Several members of the Animal Crossing games get this at different points in the Errorverse, with one New Leaf town serving as an invaluable shelter for the Smiths (aside from their parents) following their escape. Isabelle and Digby, alongside eight regular villagers, are even a part of the crucial role of The Symbiote Apocalypse and some other stories, said villagers being on hand to get Nitro back to Calteron after an accident. In the canon storyline for Glitchtale, Amber Lightvale is stated to be all but dead following Bête Noire’s origin story. In the Errorverse, however, she is very much still alive, though was unable to have free will for a long time. Fortunately, during the AR3Y N THE C1EF: Broken Identities story set, she and Betty are permanently split, which not only gives her a chance to experience the present day for herself, but to also get some much-desired payback on the Black Beast. Frisk was presumed to be erased from existence following Glitchtale’s “My Promise”. Following the Sonic.EXE All-Stars stories, however, they (or rather, she) return to the main timeline with little to no issues, even reinstating the lost memories after she, Chara and Asriel survive a close encounter with Tarallexer. She has an increased role from then on. Also akin to Canon Welding with Doki Doki Takeover!, Monika is much less of a monster than she was in Doki Doki Literature Club!, having resolved her past conflicts and becoming a more respected person. This also meant that she could eventually get herself and the other Dokis, including Protag, out of the game for good. The Carters, introduced as the main focus point of Sonic Reclassified, get this themselves during The Cursed Engine and beyond, with each becoming the expies to the Classic Sonic cast that can co-exist with the current timeline without causing a timeline paradox. They even gradually get new appearances over time following this. Likewise, Nicky the Hedgehog, previously only seen in Japanese Sonic manga, appears in the Errorverse as a resident of Emerald Town with Lucia and Alicia. In fact, he’s even the one to bring attention to Karilvatch for Lucia. The “legally-distinct” Team Lilac (Jett, Chiasa and Marshmallow) were originally resigned to Shang Mu Architect, but have their own major appearances in the Errorverse. Several AU Friday Night Funkin’ characters become this through crossing with the canon universe, including Bidu and Barbara from Arrow Funk, B3 and Shaya from B3 Remixed, the Minus Boyfriend trio and their Girlfriend, and even the Soft, Neo, B-Side and D-Side counterparts to the couple and Pico. The Twin Stars introduced in concept art make a canon appearance in the Errorverse, with The Crisis Continues introducing them as a key part to stopping the Dark Lord dead in his tracks.

Beware the Nice Ones | |

Beware the Nice Ones: Mess with any of Little X’s little companions while he’s within hearing or reaching distance, and you can say goodbye to your kneecaps within the following 10 seconds. Sayori, which, like in Doki Doki Literature Club Loops, Sans discovers the hard way when he can’t resist using hanging puns around her in Lone Guardian. Needless to say, she is not amused in the slightest, and Papyrus calls Sans out on such an insensitive pun. Sayori soon shows him what it’s like to hang around in response. Upside-down from a ceiling while tied up with paper chains, to be precise. MCGamer, IRL Lean and IRL Ivan suffer this amusing fate as well when doing the same joke in Benjamin’s presence.

Brick Joke: In the early parts of Hameln Crackdown, MC 9 deliberately proclaims his favourite kind of pie is lamb just to shock Wooly. Later on, Wooly quickly recognises him, though restrains himself once Nine owns up to what he did. During Family Reunion, after MC 9 gets stabbed and is due to “die”, he asks 10 to tell Lilac that he stole her sushi stash as his “dying wish”. In the aftermath, Lilac finds out, and, well... is none too happy about it, to say the least.

Age-Down Romance: One Nitro’s age-halt effect turns him around the same age as Nova in that timeline. While this trope doesn’t come into effect immediately, the two do find companionship with one another one day.
