Club MTV is a music dance programming that ran on MTV from 1987 to 1992. It was their own American Bandstand with music video playing in between teenagers dancing to the song. This was premiered as part of MTV's second generation after phrasing out of 5 original VJs in favor of new ones.Club MTV was filmed in the now-demolished The Palladium, one of New York City's most popular nightclubs. The last episode ran on 1992. It didn't receive any rerun until March 20, 2005 when VH1 Classicnote Now MTV Classic aired an all-day marathon of select episodes from between 1987 and 1990. It was replaced by its successor The Grind which lasted from 1992 to 1997.Not to be confused with the an European/Australian Pay-TV channel of the same name that plays music videos all day.

Hotter and Sexier: This is something dance party shows such as American Bandstand and Soul Train didn't have by taking place inside a night club and playing the hottest dance songs.

Formula-Breaking Episode: A February 1988 episode celebrates the 1987 film Dirty Dancing with 6 songs (instead of 5) played out of the soundtrack including it's famously known "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" and its 3 associated songs from the 1960s which didn't fit the concept of the show. This theme has a vibe of a high school prom dance.

Ominous Multiple Screens: Two huge TV sets with 25 screens each. This was used to play music videos that teens and young adults were dancing to, and keep in kind that those were properties of The Palladium.

Once per Episode: Which episode starts with "Downtown" standing by the wall barrier announcing the artists they would be playing until the wall lefts up revealing the dancers (every 1989 episode starts with the wall barrier lefts up revealing the dancers and "Downtown" herself). This was removed at the end of 1989. "Downtown" ends almost every episode with her "wubba-wubba-wubba" catchphrase.
