In the second series, Mehmet's stepmother, Mara, is sent on a diplomatic mission to the Hungarian court to convince King Matthias Corvinus not to support Wallachia. She casually mentions that Constantine's body was never found after Constantinople fell, and that a 2,000 year-old empire was destroyed in a single day.
