We Have to Get the Bullet Out!
Skymed / int_324385bb | comment |
We Have to Get the Bullet Out!: Played with. After Brad says this to Crystal, she argues that it's safer to leave the bullet in, but Brad points out that all gunshot wounds need to be reported and that leaving the bullet in could cause questions later.

Trauma Button: Happens a few times: When Tristan saves a potential jumper, he goes catatonic and it's revealed that his brother died from a fall as a kid. Nowak has a panic attack when a light is shined at him in an ER, triggering a flashback to his car crash. Hayley looks like she's going to break down every time the word cancer comes up.

Cell Phones Are Useless
Skymed / int_74f57438 | comment |
Cell Phones Are Useless: Played straight and averted. A few situations present in the first season when cellphones aren't helpful, for instance, when Chopper notices a signal that leads to a dead hiker who had no cell service or when the team goes to survival training and have their cells taken away only for Bodie to encounter a bear trap and need aid.

Skymed / int_da297ad2 | comment |
One of Our Own: Crystal's sentiment of "we take care of our own" is taken literally in the first episode when Wheezer becomes the person in need of rescue after a plane crash. She also says it again when she accompanies Hayley to her mastectomy.
