As a result, her judgement becomes even more questionable and even less accepting of advice from anyone other than Rasputin. note This is something of an exaggeration, for though Alix was known for addiction later in life, it was almost exclusively for the barbiturate Veronal. Czar Nicholas begins to drift towards this while separated from Alix on the front line, becoming dependent on pills to cope with the stress. note The series actually downplays the extent of the real "Nicky's" addiction, as he was even worse off than his wife: Nicholas was prescribed opium, morphine, and cocaine for a variety of stress-related conditions during his final years and ultimately became addicted to all three.
