This Morning is a British daytime television programme created by Granada Television and broadcast on ITV. The show originally aired from Granada's Albert Dock Studios in Liverpool on 3 October 1988. It features celebrity guests, entertainment, and various other features - in short, a mix of consumer show and Variety Show.The Show was originally hosted by husband and wife Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan making it groundbreaking in the fact the show was hosted by a married couple. The show wasn't advertised or believed to last until December and yet it became a groundbreaking hit that is more popular than ever.Beginning in March 2024: the presenters consist of: Ben Shephard; Appeared as a guest presenter in September 2023. Became permanent in March. (Monday-Thursday slot) Cat Deeley; Appeared as a guest presenter in November 2023. Became permanent in March. (Monday-Thursday slot) Dermot O'Leary; He joined the show as a summer relief presenter in 2020, but transitioned to the Friday slot with Alison in January 2021. (Friday and School Holiday slot) Alison Hammond; Originally joined the programme as a reporter and segment presenter in 2003. She became a full-time presenter for the Friday slot beginning in January 2021, although she still retains her former role when she is not presenting. (Friday and School Holiday slot) Josie Gibson; Joined the programme in 2018 as a reporter and segment presenter, and became a full-time relief presenter beginning in the Summer of 2021. (Relief) Craig Doyle; Joined the programme as a relief presenter for the Summer of 2021. Also appears as a reporter and segment presenter. (Relief)Former presenters are: Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, the original presenters of the show and the first-ever husband-and-wife duo to present on a daytime television show. They formerly presented every day until 1998, when they stopped presenting on Fridays. They left the show in 2001 after signing a new contract with Channel 4 to host a new chat show named after them. After Richard & Judy ended in July 2009, They made comebacks on several occasions, such as in February 2020. Fern Britton; Joined as a Friday presenter in 1999 with John Leslie. She eventually transitioned to main presenting role in 2002 with Phillip Schofield, and left in 2009. Holly Willoughby took over her role in 2009. John Leslie; Joined as a Friday presenter in 1999 and transitioned to main presenting roles with her in 2001. He was axed from the show in 2002 following several controversies. Phillip Schofield; He originally joined as a Friday presenter in 2002 but became the replacement of John Leslie after his axing shortly afterwards. He transitioned to Monday-Thursday presenter in 2006 and remained this way until May 2023 following several controversies including a fallout with Holly and an eventual reveal that he had an affair with a young employee that led to his contract with ITV being completely terminated. Eamonn Holmes; Joined as a Friday presenter in 2006 with his wife Ruth Langsford. They were both downgraded to school holiday presenters in 2021 due to viewers deeming them as "unpopular" and their Friday slots were given to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. Eventually, ITV terminated Eamonn's contract at the end of the year, although Ruth stayed behind at the company. Eamonn was shortly after given a job working at GB News for their morning news programme. Ruth Langsford; Joined as a relief presenter in 1998 before gaining the Friday slot with Eamonn in 2006. Her last appearance on the show following her removal as a main presenter was a relief for a week in August 2022, presenting with Vernon Kay. Ruth was the longest-running presenter on the show. Holly Willoughby; Joined the programme as the Monday-Thursday presenter in 2009. She announced her departure on 10 October 2023 following a failed plot by a man to kidnap and murder her.Other presenters who have presented over the years included Ross Kelly and Caron Keating, who briefly presented on Fridays in 1998, Coleen Nolan and Twiggy, who presented in 2001 with the latter being axed after only three weeks due to extreme unpopularity, and Lorraine Kelly, who presented on Mondays and Fridays from 2004-2006 with Schofield. | |
