Early Game Hell: The early game is difficult and grindy because even basic healing items are very expensive while enemies drop very little money. It takes until late in the game for the player to be able to buy more than one Mana Water from a single battle's worth of earnings.

Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Xmeil's's army claims that their conquest will be for the good of the world's population, even though their leader, Lord Gwir, is an Ax-Crazy dictator who enjoys the idea of slaughtering civilians in order to rule through fear. Additionally, Gwir plans on forcing many of the conquered people to be part of Dr. Silver's mutant experiments. Later on, it becomes apparent that he's doing this to cope with the death of his wife, even though he knows she would never want him to start a world war. Cael claims that wiping out humanity is necessary because the later species is inherently more evil than Celestials and that he'll turn Vyen into a paradise for his species. However, he's not only responsible for corrupting Lord Gwir into starting a world war to weaken humanity, he also takes sadistic pleasure in slaughtering humans, making it clear his claims of inherent morality are bull. He's also the only Celestial to hold these supremacist views and will mercilessly kill any of his own who oppose him while deriding them for being too weak for his standards.

Guest-Star Party Member: Skye starts with October, Celica, and Heart as his party members, but they're eventually captured by Xmeil. They do get a brief playable segment where they try and fail to escape from Xmeil's lab, but after the main playable party rescues them, they take refuge in Gemeid. During Caven's first playable segment, he teams up with the mercenary Tri to solve Gwado's demon problem. Afterwards, Tri leaves the party and stays in Gwado for the rest of the game. During Xmeil's attack on Fidel, the Gemedian soldier Rheyl temporarily joins Skye and Caven to help them escape from Xmeil's soldiers. Unfortunately, he is captured and only gets one more playable segment when he teams up with Skye's original party members in an attempt to escape from Xmeil's lab. Meiling joins the party when they arrive in Gemeid and helps them infiltrate Xmeil, but leaves in order to escort the Xmeil lab prisoners to safety in Gemeid.

Fantastic Racism: Lord Gwir hates those of the Celestial bloodline and seeks to wipe them out, even if he has to raze entire cities just to get rid of one. This is not because they did anything to him personally, but because he hates that they're secretly policing human civilization, which would undermine his authority. In turn, the Cael wants to kill all humans because he believes they're inherently drawn to war and that Celestials are inherently superior to them.
