Bonk's Revenge is the second game in the Bonk series, created by Hudson Soft and Red for the Turbografx-16 in 1991. It is a sequel to Bonk's Adventure. After freeing Princess Za and Moonland in the last game, Bonk embarks on another adventure to get the other half of the moon back from the possession of the evil King Drool, who is using it to build a new Monster Kingdom.Bonk's Revenge shares the same general gameplay as its predecessor. You play as Bonk in a side-scrolling platformer battling weird and wild enemies and comical bosses with his signature hard head. But the sequel introduces some new moves and tricks Bonk can use on this adventure. Bonk can climb up trees, swing from trees horizontally, and a new "wall-bonk" technique that Bonk can use to reach higher platforms.Revenge was another solid Turbografx-16 hit, so much so that it was packaged with Adventure in the Super 4-in-1 CD for the Turbo Duo, showing that the little headbanger had some staying power. It was followed up by Bonk III: Bonk's Big Adventure in 1993.

Antepiece: This game establishes how different it is from the first game by placing the player at the bottom of a series of waterfalls. In order to get to the top of the level, the player has to learn how to use Bonk's waterfall-climbing technique. It also demonstrates that the general level design has been stepped up from the original, with more vertical-oriented stages.

Easy-Mode Mockery: Revenge has a weird variation of this. The player has the ability to choose between different "difficulty levels" "Practice Mode" only lets you play one stage, "Intermediate" lets you play the first world, and finally "Expert" is the whole game. The game isn't any more difficult between the three modes. It just determines how many levels you're allowed to play.

Unintentionally Unwinnable: Against the first boss, Fire Dinosaur. If you ate the large meat, and connect a ground pound as soon as the opponent barely appears on screen, the boss is knocked offscreen and can't return. This doesn't count as a kill required to advance.

All the Worlds Are a Stage: The final stage has a hub linking to four "tunnels" based on the first four stages, each ending with a respective boss rematch.

Inevitable Waterfall: The first stage is the Waterfall. A completely vertical stage with a series of waterfalls that Bonk has to climb to the top of. The Orange Waterfall (5-3) is the same level, with more dangerous enemies and obbstacles.

The Flower Field is the second level and strangely not the first, taking place after the Waterfalls. It's a pristine and flowery field with simple enemies and next to no obstacles, though at the end of the stage Bonk will face a Mini-Boss.

The Fireball Field (5-1) mixes this with Lethal Lava Land, taking place in the same flower field but with geysers that spew out fiery rocks which rain down from the top of the screen.
