Disney Tsum Tsum (pronounced "soom soom"), promoted as LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum, is a 2014 Free-to-Play Match-Three Game for iOS and Android developed and published by Line Corporation (makers of the Line messaging app) that is based on the toyline of the same name, featuring Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters as adorable little plushies.Tsum Tsum plushies have fallen from Disney Store shelves overnight and need to get back on those shelves before it reopens! Players have to clear away the Tsums from the playfield by dragging their fingers on their device's touchscreen and link at least three of the same Tsums together. The more Tsums linked, the more points earned. Players also earn coins to spend on more Tsums when four or more Tsums are linked. If players clear away at least seven Tsums, they can also earn "bubbles"note "bombs" in the Japanese version to clear a large burst of Tsums quicker.Players have to be quick about clearing away Tsums, though, as they only got a minute to do it! However, if they clear enough Tsums at a time, then they can trigger Fever Mode for extra time, extra points, and extra quick Tsum clearing. There are two versions of the game, the original Japanese version and a separate Global version.note It's officially called the Global version by Line because they added a "G" at the end of the app's Google Play URL, but it's normally called the "International" version by fans. The Japanese version contains more and exclusive (both timed and permanently exclusive) content than the Global version, but it also has harder bingo missions and is only available in Japanese.note The Global version supports English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Korean, and Thai. The Japanese version is on the App Store here and Google Play here, while the Global version is on the App Store here and Google Play here. The game also had a Marvel counterpart in Marvel Tsum Tsum, which was developed by XFLAG and published by mixi, but that one only ran from the end of August 2016 to the end of October 2017. The Japanese version of Disney Tsum Tsum has since added a few Marvel characters to the game. There was also a Japanese and Traditional Chinese only bubble shooter spin-off game called Disney Tsum Tsum Land that featured 3D models of various Tsums that lasted from 2017 to 2024. Also, during a Nintendo Direct released on February 13, 2019, a new Party Game spin-off for Nintendo Switch called Disney Tsum Tsum Festival was announced to be released later in the year, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.See also Disney Emoji Blitz.

The Cameo: Some Tsums only appear as part of characters' abilities; some during animations (such as Reuben and several other experiments in Gantu's ability) and others actually appearing on the playfield (such as Chip Potts appearing with his mother Mrs. Potts when using her ability).

Disney Tsum Tsum (Video Game) / int_5a90e8ad | comment |
Socialization Bonus: Inviting Line friends to play the game can earn players 500 coins for every new player they invite (up to one thousand Line friends), plus a Happiness Ticket for inviting five friends, a Premium Ticket for inviting fifteen friends, and an Alien Tsum for inviting thirty friends. In addition, players can send free hearts (lives) to any Line and Facebook friends playing the game; claiming sent hearts within an hour of being sent also scores players an additional 200 coins each. This has naturally led to a major Loophole Abuse where players share their Line IDs with others on websites (usually the Tsum Tsum subreddit) to claim as many free lives and coins as possible.note To reduce friend-adding spam, Line does limit how many Line ID searches one can make in their app at a given time, forcing a cooldown when the limit is reached. There's even a program made for the PC-based Android emulator Nox that players use to automate sending and receiving hearts.

Bribing Your Way to Victory: Subverted; every Tsum in the game can be unlocked for free without having to spend any money for rubies. However, since it's a gacha game, the availability of Tsums change frequently, and some are only available for a limited time. Some Tsums, such as Perry, have even been outright retired. Played straight with most Gold Pin and Platinum Pin event missions. Players can spend rubies to make them easier.

Cosmetic Award: Pins. Earned for reaching certain milestones (such as completing five bingo cards or getting five million points in a game) or by completing events, they only add visual flair to a player's profile on their Weekly Rankings list. There are (usually) three types of event pins: Silver Pins for completing the easier milestones and event cards, Gold Pins for completing harder milestones and event cards, and Platinum Pinsnote full color pins first added in the Lilo & Stitch: The Series event "Stitch's Cousin Frenzy!" ("Stitch's Cousin Search" in the Japanese version) for completing the most challenging event cards.

Character Level | |
Disney Tsum Tsum (Video Game) / int_c1c29f00 | comment |
Character Level: Tsums have two levels: Score Levels determine how may points players get when they clear away that specific Tsum. It increases through regular gameplay, but players can also boost it with Level Tickets that they can earn. All Tsums have a maximum Score Level of 50. However, Score Levels begin with a cap of just five and players have to spend an increasing amount of coins to raise the cap another five levels each time they reach the current cap. Skill Levels determine how powerful each Tsum's skills can get. Players can increase the Skill Level through either earning more of the same Tsum or by using Skill Tickets that can they can win, and the amounts of either required to reach the next Skill Level increases the next level players reach with the Tsum. The caps vary for each Tsum; Happiness Box Tsums and certain Premium Box Tsums have a cap of just three, a few specific Premium Box Mickey & Friends Tsums have a cap of four, most other Premium Box Tsums have a cap of six (which takes a while to get to), and poor Oswald has a cap of only two in the Global version (three in the Japanese version).
