Darker and Edgier: This applies to the majority of several songs, particularly creepy fan works related to both Pac-Man and Dig Dug (as well as an upcoming song for a horror take on Q*bert). |

Cruel and Unusual Death: Should Pico lose at any time in "Caved In", Caver will strike him through the skull with his weapon, fracturing it. Keep in mind that the only other unique Game Over screen so far involves a screen with Nintendont looking at the screen with a Face Framed in Shadow and blood splatters everywhere, implying whatever he did to Sonic wasn't pretty. |

Mythology Gag |
| Friday Night Funkin': Arcade Archives (Video Game) / int_26ac510e |
comment |
Mythology Gag: "Gravedigger" has this towards the "Dig-Dug.EXE" fangame it's based off, starting with Boyfriend up against the Pooka that's meant to be destroyed to "free" the anomaly. When this doesn't work, the Anomaly instead opts to go further, forcing the battle into the player's desktop just like how the final fight against him played out. The fake news website present in the original game also comes up on an internet browser once you've beaten the song. At the end of "Street Smarts", Polybius and Scott both sing the latter's iconic theme tune. "Cabinet Funk" is drawn entirely in the style of the original song's fanmade music video. Upcoming song "Prism" aims to be as authentic as possible to the "Q*Bert Arcade" game it originated from, right down to the Doomed by Canon situation Coily goes through. |

The Stinger: At the end of the Chapter 1 week, the plug on Polybius is pulled by a mysterious man and is shut down, snapping Boyfriend back to his senses. Said man then offers to ask him a few questions, before the traditional To Be Continued screen comes up. |

Interface Screw: Throughout "Polybius", the titular arcade machine causes Boyfriend's side of the screen to be glitched out over time. Downplayed in that this doesn't affect the strumline. |

| Friday Night Funkin': Arcade Archives (Video Game) / int_8a07e085 |
comment |
Denser and Wackier: In contrast to the horror theme present throughout the mod, "Infringement" and "Life Cycle" stand out as being more funny to see in comparison, the former being against a bootleg Pac-Man (which, of course, became the real Pac's wife), and the latter against a PNG of House of the Dead 2's Caleb Goldman. Upcoming song, "Mistranslation", also qualifies, being based off a game famous for its poorly-translated opening sequence. |

Lighter and Softer: The songs "Turbotastic", "Infringement", "Life Cycle", "Street Smarts" (despite Polybius's presence) and "Cabinet Funk" (if not counting the surprise Hostile Show Takeover near the end) all lack any horror scenarios, instead being more light-hearted songs that stand out from the other Darker and Edgier songs present in the mod. |
