Funkin' MIX is a Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod created by Namdam_096 and directed by him and PosiTVt, which mixes different characters from the vanilla game with each other, both in appearance and personalities, kind of similar to Saturday Night Swappin', but with the Composite Character-type of idea instead of the roles being outright swapped. It also remixes the original songs and adds new songs to the mix.Years after a school shooting caused by Pico and his cousin Otis, in which various students got hurt, Boyfriend, who was among them and was affected by the events, became a professional killer, working under Daddy Dearest. After finishing one of his missions, he accidentally overhears a conversation between his boss and his daughter, in which she wants to help her father with his business, but he denies her pleads. BF takes pity on her and decides to help her behind DD's back, making a deal about him teaching her to shoot while she teaches him to sing.A week has passed and Daddy Dearest starts to suspect about his employee's "urgent" affairs before continuing with his missions, so he sneakily eyes on him one day as he makes his way out. He then finds out about her daughter's new love partner and accomplice and that's how it all starts. The mod is currently a demo with 2 weeks and 11 songs in total. Not to be confused with Super Mario Bros. Funk Mix.

Mythology Gag: The title card for Week 2 is drawn in the style of Spooky Month's episode thumbnails, with the protagonists doing something in the foreground and the antagonist looming behind them in the background, drawn lineless and in shades of green to contrast the fully colored main characters. Graffiti of the canon Monster is on the wall behind MIX Monster, seen when the camera zooms out doing "Sickly Sour". The name of Skid and Pump's second bonus song in the freeplay menu, "West", is an obvious reference to their second song in the original game being named "South".

Downplayed with Girlfriend. She's mixed with Mommy Mearest (her icon is even a mix of both), though it's more in clothing and hair colour than anything else, since she still loves BF. Probably the closest in personality she ever shares with her mother could be his love for his father (husband, in MM's case), but that's not something GF didn't show before in the original game.

Adaptational Modesty: As Girlfriend is mixed with her mother, she inherits Mommy Mearest's jacket and high-heeled boots, making her outfit more modest in comparison to the canon Girlfriend. MIX Daddy Dearest wears a full suit, in contrast to the canon DD having an open jacket with no shirt. Moloch in Spooky Month is shirtless from the moment Skid and Pump summon him up until he possesses Dexter. Here, when Skid and Pump summon him to help deal with Monster, Moloch is wearing what looks to be a frayed tank top.

Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_63d861f8 | comment |
Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Similar to his main counterpart, despite being a greedy mercenary boss both in power and money, MIX Daddy Dearest truly cares for and loves his daughter, to the point of trying to not show her the business he's into in order to protect her. This is the real reason he was furious at BF: not really because of him dating her, like in the original game, but because of him almost exposing his hitman business to his daughter by teaching her to shoot, and would've actually killed him if he wasn't his most trusted killer.

Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_6a6c1f35 | comment |
The Power of Rock: It's implied that singing might have some sort of magical properties in this universe, or at least when Girlfriend's around. In Week 2, GF tells Boyfriend to sing while Lila's captured by the Monster in "S.O.S"; when BF asks why, she says: "Trust me on this!". While it initially seems to not work, Monster's control on Lila's body loosens during parts of "Sickly Sour", and they separate after the song ends.

Adaptational Badass | |
Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_736d791f | comment |
Adaptational Badass: Daddy Dearest is a powerful demon in the story and wants to kill BF whatever it takes, sure, but gameplay-wise, he starts in the easiest week in the main Friday Night Funkin' since he's in the first week. Here, however, he's not only Boyfriend's boss, but the boss of a giant mercenary monopoly company and a hitman business. And if that wasn't enough, not only his songs remixes are more challenging, but in MIX's "Dad Battle", he actually has both a life drain and shooting mechanic! That's right, DD here is actually fighting BF in the third song of Week 1. And MIX's BF actually gets tired after dodging so many bullets (given the later cutscene), unlike in other mods. While it's confirmed by PhantomArcade that canon BF is actually a powerful and capable fighter despite his chibi appearance, he doesn't do much in the main game besides singing (before The Full Ass Game comes, that is), and he doesn't really have anything else besides his great vocal range and microphone. As this mod mixes him with Pico, however, this Boyfriend is both a singer in practice and a hitman, is DD's best killer, successfully dodges his bullets throughout "Dad Battle" and disarms him at the song's end. Monster in canon is, at least up to Week 5, little more than a weirdo with illusion powers, and his songs rely more on spectacle than difficulty. This Monster however is instantly pegged as a unknowable threat by everyone, including Moloch, a powerful demon, and "Sickly Sour" is by far the hardest song in the entire mod due to its quick charting and relentless use of health drain.

Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_8741b74 | comment |
Played with Lila. She looks like a mix of her and Monster, with the personality of the latter...while possessed. Her redish eyes and teeth outside her lips bears resemblance to him, as well as her appetite for young ones and her yellow stripes in her hair. However, her real appearance is...just like the original Lila. This is actually explained by her truly being the original Lila, and not her MIX counterpart; she was somehow transported to the MIX world during the events of "Deadly Smiles", which is why she's wearing her outfit from that episode and not her usual one. MIX Lila is a separate character, and judging by Skid's initial reaction to the possessed Lila, she resembles her more than the original.

The Paranoiac: Like with Pico in his home series, this is why Boyfriend carries his uzis around with him at all times, even outside of his job. The reason for this, like what's speculated with the original Pico himself, could be because this might be one of the side effects after the events of his school shooting.

Non-Standard Character Design: Lila is drawn exactly as she is in Spooky Month, complete with no shading — this offers a stark contrast to the rest of the MIX cast, who are drawn in the usual Friday Night Funkin' style, shading and all, including the other Spooky Month characters and Lila herself while possessed by Monster.

This mod's version of Boyfriend is a mix between him and Pico, bearing the main BF's signature vocal range and a desire to sing, but also being a Professional Killer and possessing Pico's Uzi. His left eye is white (Pico) and his right eye is black (BF), he has a shade of redish orange in his hair similar to Pico's orange hair, and his poses have traits of both. His background story is also similar to Pico's, with the difference being that he didn't face the foes of his school's shooting (for what we know), in contrast to Pico fighting the Goth Punks. His icon is also mostly BF's light blue with some of Pico's green color.

Adaptational Abomination
Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_e0e6af6e | comment |
Adaptational Abomination: While the original Lemon Monster is a Humanoid Abomination, this incarnation is probably more bizarre-looking than even the cherry-headed, teeth-covered Chester. He (if he even is male, to begin with) is a parasitic Blob Monster that takes control of his victims and looks like some sort of Venom-like tar in his normal form. His victims then bear his outside-of-lips blood red teeth and eyes like his original counterpart, and long black claws where the hands would be. Moloch even directly calls Monster something beyond his comprehension after trying to converse with him. The 1s and 0s present on Possessed Lila's losing icon and his song in the freeplay menu being named "Object Error" implies Monster might also be mechanical in nature.

Composite Character | |
Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_e4965307 | comment |
Composite Character: The core idea of the mod: having a character's principal appearance and personality and mix it with another character's traits: This mod's version of Boyfriend is a mix between him and Pico, bearing the main BF's signature vocal range and a desire to sing, but also being a Professional Killer and possessing Pico's Uzi. The Spooky Kids are merged with Boyfriend. Both are young rappers, with Pump sharing more of BF's daring personality and Skid bearing a backwards cap like his, though in black instead of red. On the other side of the spectrum, they have a relationship with Moloch and Skid's personality is more of the same as his Spooky Month counterpart, and he also has Lila as his mother. Their icons have some of BF's light blue color in addition to their respective gray and orange. The upcoming character of Pico is a mix between himself and Boyfriend. He bears a mic instead of a gun, has a light blue stripe in the middle of his orange hair, his left eye is black (BF) and his right eye is white (Pico) and, like MIX Boyfriend, his poses are mixes of both. His icon is also mostly Pico's green with some of BF's light blue color.

Funkin' MIX (Video Game) / int_e7cd994c | comment |
Anti-Role Model: While the canon Boyfriend isn't exactly much better, considering he's a Fearless Fool and an unconcerned college dropout, his MIX counterpart probably amps the negative traits further: he's a traumatized and resentful hitman who works for a mercenary boss, is cold-blooded at times while working, enjoys fast food and smokes while nobody's around, often carrying guns due to his paranoic behavior. In one artwork◊, he even makes his thumb bleed by biting it with his sharp teeth just to arouse his girlfriend. Despite all of this, however, he can still be a pleasant fellow...if you're not his target, that is.

Adaptational Context Change: Right before "Sickly Sour" begins in earnest, Lila saying "Kids... come here!" is sampled from "Deadly Smiles"; in its original context, she's nervously trying to get Skid and Pump away from the knife-wielding Dexter, but here it's been twisted into either Monster using her voice as a lure for Skid and Pump, or him just mocking Boyfriend and Moloch.
