Just as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was split into two films, so too was it split into two video games. They were released by Electronic Arts in 2010 and 2011 to coincide with the releases of the respective halves of the film.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })Both games dispense with the Wide Open Sandbox approach, which certainly would have been difficult to reconcile with the storyline of the last two films, what with Part 1 featuring the trio on the run and Part 2 just being one big battle. Instead, both games are essentially realized as Third-Person Shooters with wands in place of guns. Also, Part 1 has exploding potion bottles used like hand grenades.A handful of the film actors opted to voice their characters for the Deathly Hallows games, most notably Rupert Grint, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, and Toby Jones. Despite having voiced their characters for previous games, Ralph Fiennes and Bonnie Wright did not do so this time. And for whatever reason, Tom Felton voiced Draco Malfoy for the Part 1 game but not for Part 2.These were the last Potter games released by Electronic Arts. Subsequently, their licensing deal with Warner Bros. expired.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); }) | |
