Darker and Edgier: Than the original I Wanna be the Guy, and most of the fangames. Instead of happy (albeit bloody) images of Delicious Fruit laden trees and video game references all over the place, most of the game is spent in closed off, spike filled rooms of similar sizes. Thankfully, the music is pretty upbeat, and the bosses avert this for the most part. Kamilia herself invokes this between the three games. In the first game, they were simply a Palette Swap of The Kid with crazy powers. In 2, they gain (probably demonic) powers and a Nightmare Fuel inducing One-Winged Angel form after her health is depleted. In 3, they turn into a gothic, demonic spellcaster of nightmarish proportions, and a purple, paintbrush-like Slasher Smile after the first phase. Oh, and the One-Winged Angel form from the last game returns with a vengeance. Hope you've been practicing your Ikaruga! | |

Trial-and-Error Gameplay: All games in the trilogy occasionally have spikes that will rearrange themselves or shoot out at you very quickly with no warning once you pass a certain point. "Tribute" in 2 is a ghost house with loads of invisible teleporters you have to go through to reach the exit. Making the wrong move tends to teleport you above an inescapable pit of spikes. "Skyclad" in 2 has a hidden passageway in the first drop, which is the only way to advance. "Phantom" (팬텀) in 1 has a spike that will suddenly chase you back before you reach the exit. | |

And 3? Well, just look at the image above! You know the game's hard when the world record Speedrun clocks in at around three and a half hours. note For a point of reference, the world record for I Wanna Be The Boshy is about 32 minutes.
