Interstation 12 is a heavily modified Space Station 13 server originally based on Baystation code but is now so far removed from Baystation 12 that it is almost an entirely different game from vanilla Space Station 13. There are two primary game modes in Interstation 12: Interstation 12 Warfare and Interstation 12 Reborn. Warfare plays more like a typical team deathmatch server like "Colonial Marines" whereas Reborn plays much more similarly to vanilla Space Station 13 and Lifeweb with a far greater emphasis on roleplay and worldbuilding.Due to the higher roleplay standards on Reborn, your ckey is required to be verified before you can join the server. The official Interstation 12 wiki can be found here.

Crapsack World: Played up to a comical degree. The surface of the world was bombarded with nuclear warheads during the Cold Hot War. Even when the surface was still inhabitable, the people of Redistan intentionally polluted the air itself to turn the sky a deep red. Post-War Redistan is ruled by a literal pay-to-win Ruling Class known as Gules, who pay a subscription fee to a governmental department in exchange for status and power.

Black Comedy: Although the setting takes place underground and conditions are often terrible for the average citizen, there still are hilarious aspects such as the Italian mob acting like a Godfather or Sopranos stereotype and people getting sent to jail or executed simply for having a blue pen or having blue hair.

Fantastic Racism: In the world of Reborn, the Blusnians and Greenslanders have all been wiped out during the Cold Hot War, leaving Redistan as the sole surviving nation. Now, with no external enemies left to fight, the Redistanis have turned to oppressing their sole ethnic minority, the Post-Italians. Italians are commonly referred to using derogatory terms such as "Gorbino" and are often looked upon as lesser and with much suspicion. Despite this, any Redistani with sense knows that an Italian is still far greater than a Blusnian, since at least Italians are still Redistanis.

Enemy Mine: Although certain groups like the Italian Mob and the A.A.M. are normally at odds with one another, a particularly awful Commandant may lead to such factions putting aside their differences (temporarily) to deal with a common enemy.

Almighty Janitor: The Undertaker, who collects corpses and brings them to the morgue, is also responsible for keeping Portzee's electric grid running by feeding them to The Beast. Technically the most important job in the bunker since without power everything grinds to a halt. The aptly named Janitor cleans all the blood and debris from the ground and keeps the bunker looking relatively nice. In an in-game example of broken window theory, the more blood and bullets there are on the ground, the more likely people are to misbehave and commit crimes.

Everything Trying to Kill You: On a first time playthrough it is incredibly common for players to accidentally fall off a catwalk, ladder, or into the water and drown due to not knowing the map layout. In Warfare, there are mines placed around the map that most new players will step on thinking they are a setpiece and immediately get blown to smithereens.
