Micromon: The Legend of Vaithe is a 2014 Mons Series game developed by MOGA. It was released on iOS. Its sequel, Nexomon, was released in 2017.The story follows a teenager who gets transported into a world known as Pixekai through a mysterious app in their mobile phone. There, they meets up with Professor Malk, and are tasked with capturing various Micromon for his researches. Like Pokémon, however, things quickly get darker...This game takes heavy inspiration from Pokémon, where the player will collect various Mons and use them in battle. The game has a linear progress route. It's often described as one of the first successful Pokémon-inspired mobile games.

Brainwashed and Crazy: Near the end, all four Legion members are brainwashed by the Black Root's virus and forced to fight you again, complete with some Ominous Visual Glitch. After being freed, they all express gratitude to the protagonist and presumably leave Pixekai to go to the real world.

Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Legion Lethar seems like a ruthless trainer and a Blood Knight at first, but he doesn't have too much difficulty in trusting in you after you stopped the bad guys in Magma, and he is shown to have quite a soft side as well. Part of the reason why he agrees to help you find Moonborn, the next Legion member, is because he is grateful towards her for allowing him to grow up healthily, and he wants the player to help repay this kindness.

White Hair, Black Heart: Leah initially appears to be a complete psychopath who would step down into any low to reach the reality. Turns out that she also wants her son to go to the real world and she genuinely loves him, and her crazy part is really because she herself is affected by the energy. Zeth, Leah's son is a downplayed example. He is pretty rude when you first meet him, but he softens over time.

Anti-Escapism Aesop: With the implication that Pixekai serves as "a place to escape from real life" in-universe and its total destruction in the end at the hands of someone who dislikes human's cowardice, note The sequel confirmed that it's destroyed and not upgraded to 2.0. as well as how many residents from that world actually want to go to reality, there is the theme that the digital world isn't and shouldn't be used to escape reality.

Too Dumb to Live: Subverted. Right before Navia, when near a cave and a staircase, a strange voice asks the protagonist to go upstairs. You don't have to be too experienced in real life to know that a shady voice asking a child to come over them shouldn't be trusted, but you can only watch as your protagonist obeys it and falls into the trap of Super Minion Elite Forces. Thankfully, the rangers are pretty incompetent with the yellow ranger even forgetting his lines, and they retreat after the yellow ranger is defeated.
