Power Blade 2 is a 2D action Platform Game by Taito. Released in 1992 for the NES. Due to the game being a standalone game (Its predecessor was Power Blazer, which became Power Blade in America), it went by the name of Captain Saver in Japan.Set nine years after the first game in December 2200, the Delta Foundation company extorts the President with the offer of buying their newest set of combat cyborgs for the Department of Defense. If the Government refuses the offer in a Week, they will sell it the country's adversaries. Nova is sent in to infiltrate the Delta Foundation and stop their extortion attempt.Power Blade 2 plays largely the same gameplay as its predecessor. You control Nova in a side scrolling action platformer, battling various mechanical enemies and foes with his boomerangs. What's different in this sequel however is the overhaul of the Power Up Armor system. Nova can acquire different power up Armors within the stages that enhance his abilities, like improved swimming, the ability to climb walls, the ability to fly, or a shield that stops projectiles. Nova can put on these Armors at anytime, but wearing the armor decreases his energy meter.

Power Blade 2 (Video Game) / int_14beeefd | comment |
Darker and Edgier: Power Blade 2 has an overall darker, grimier atmosphere compared to the first game. Compared to the brightly-colored facilities of the first game, The stages are all dark and mechanical fortresses, Nova blows up levels after completing them and the plot is far more dramatic with Nova attempting to stop a government extortion plot.
