Throwing the Distraction: In Chapter 1, "Javier's" options for infiltrating Chester's factory are either the security guard's dropped gun, or a rock, the latter of which can either be used this way or to throw at the guard's head.

Reality Warper: The titular gimmick of the game is that, whenever someone initiates a flashback, their narration is able to mold reality to match. For example, in Chapter 1, "Javier" stating that he obtained a henchman's uniform to infiltrate Chester's factory has him suddenly wearing it in the present, and stating that he used a rock to bypass a guard instead of using a gun has the gun found on his person, now wielded by the guard, suddenly vanish.

Player and Protagonist Integration: The characters in the game are aware that the player is an entry that enables RE:CALL, and occasionally directly address "the one looking through [the current protagonist]'s eyes".

Half-Hearted Henchman: Chester's green-suited security guard in Chapter 1 is quite affable, profusely apologizing for losing his gun in the realities where "Javier" finds it, and thinking that a disguised "Javier" is actually a coworker named Nicky, who is apparently a well-respected family man.

Killed Mid-Sentence: Chapter 1 ends with Chester pleading to the player to get away from Dominik before it's too late, and then Dominik interrupts him with a headshot.

Aerith and Bob: The names of important characters range from the abstract, like Chester Make-Believe, Obsydian Skye, and Gioeli De La Soul, to the comparatively more mundane, like Harry Ocean and Oliver Foster.

Tomato Surprise: The first chapter has the focal protagonist, a bespectacled man referred to as "Javier", use RE:CALL to avoid being killed by Chester Make-Believe and his henchman. Only after setting things up so that the apparent bad guys end up shot in their heads does "Javier" remove his glasses and reveal he is actually Dominik New-Order, who Chester calls a traitor and the man responsible for the murders of the "Happy Havoc".
