Rebekah is a Game Mod for The Binding of Isaac that was initially made for the Afterbirth + expansion; later updating into a separate download compatible with Repentance, dubbed Rebekah: The Cursed and Brokenhearted Expansion. This mod introduces the titular girl Rebekah, a young girl with a Yandere-like obsession with Isaac, based on the wife of Isaac in The Bible.

Rotten Heart, the hyperactive personality. Her damage is severely reduced, with only slightly better tears and speed, she summons flies for whenever she fires her tears, and her dash is replaced with a Losing Your Head ability that results in her head acting like a Sub-Horf - automatically firing tears while rotating as they move. Her pocket item is Beelzebub's Breath, firing a cluster of flies that blocks enemy fire while periodically summoning more flies.

Eternal Heart, the level-headed eternal personality. Stats wise, she trades her damage, tear-rate, and luck for speed aided by flight, her dash leaves behind Feather Flechettes as projectiles, and she's blindfolded; her basic tears overwritten by a Charged Attack of holy flame. Her pocket item is Barachiel's Petal, which fires a quick light beam alongside a Spread Shot of feather projectiles that causes a light beam strike on contact.

Boring, but Practical: The Lunchbox. It's just a low quality item randomly earned after a floor's boss that spawns three random heart pickups that doesn't impact the player character stats wise, but when considering Rebekah's Job System gimmick requires having different hearts to swap to those respective personalities, and that the item has the capability of spawning rare heart types such as eternal, gold, and bone, this makes the item a great source for Rebekah to change to those normally rare personalities mid-run.

Wire Dilemma: The active item Defuse = Reward, a wired bomb chest carried by a ghost, which automatically activates upon grabbing/fully-charging it. When active, the ghost carrying the bomb will pulse with several different colors in a row, which the corresponding colored wires need to be select to deactivate it and reap the rewards of the chest. While this can be kept up with each charge, the bomb becomes deadlier with each use.

Broken Heart, the "know-it-all" personality. Her speed stat is severely reduced, and her dash is replaced a parry ability to avoid damage - which can either result in a randomized effect (a temporary stat-up, card) upon successfully using it, or instead spawn a glitchy wardrobe that does nothing but serve as a visual distraction for failing it. Her pocket item is main.lua, which spawns a replica of herself that allows Rebekah to avoid damage for the duration of the room, at the cost of taking a full heart of damage upon leaving the room, and getting One Hit Killed upon the replica's number reaching 50 upon taking too much damage without I-frames.

Hair-Raising Hare: The rabbits that spawn from the broken eggs (courtesy of the Eggshell Walk item) aren't this trope, being helpful critters that'll hop onto enemies in the room. What qualifies is their mother, who'll make herself known after three eggs are broken. At best, they'll leave Isaac alone and be a minor obstacle as they collect their eggs and be on their way. At worst, they'll get mad upon breaking an egg in their presence, attacking Isaac in response.

Mechanically Unusual Class

comment
Mechanically Unusual Class: Tainted Rebekah does not have a usual health like other Isaac characters, instead having a health bar like a boss; base health at 50 hit points. The consequence of this is Tainted Rebekah lacks Mercy Invincibility and takes variable damage from different sources (fires dealing 10 damage a tick, enemies dealing 5, and explosions 50). What's worse, you cannot pickup any health drops or use most items (except Yum Heart) to recover health; it's only done by killing other bosses. On the plus side, the bar has no cap on how much health can be gained, with it being possible to have health comparable to the Final Bosses.

Shout-Out: Rebekah's appearance in her different personalities have their own references: Her default Red Heart appearance, due to her braided black hair and glasses, heavily resembles Saki Yoshida from the infamous Metamorphosis Hentai. Her Broken Heart personality, with the general theme of glitch-y effects and her hairstyle, resembles Monika. Love Deluxe is named after the Stand of Yukako Yamagishi. Nut Water references The Backrooms, with its use of Almond Water as a sanity check and the flavor text "Don't noclip!" referring to the phenomena of how people end up in the Backrooms. The Shining active item is named after the film of the same name, with its effect of shooting blood tears and lasers out of the doors referencing the iconic Bloody Horror moment of blood flooding a hallway. Defuse = Reward is a cross between a chest and a six module bomb from Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. The flavor text advising to use the manual to defuse describing the premise of the game, and the following text after-ward "thank you forever" is the closing line of hololive's Korone Inugami as she finds herself facing an imminent Game Over in her attempt.

Bone Heart, the dumb-wild personality. Her damage, speed and luck increases slightly, and her dash is replaced with a bone melee attack that is limited by a stamina meter illustrated by a bone heart above her; maxing it out resulting in a Spin Attack that does less damage. Her pocket item is Fang, which spawns a Corpse Eater from Antibirth as a Power Up Mount - letting Rebekah dash through enemies without fear of damage for as long as it last while buffing her tears - afterwhich it remains as an enemy-attacking familiar until Fang is used again.

Hoist by His Own Petard: The "A Beautiful Grave" familiar activates an automatic One-Hit Kill on any enemy inflicted with the Fear status, but if Isaac/Rebekah get inflicted with the Fear status (which is possible with certain enemies such as Cursed Death's Head's aura) the familiar will use their insta-kill technique on them, causing an automatic Game Over.

Puppy Love: The five year old Rebekah falls for Isaac, who is vaguely the same age. Subverted, as while Rebekah has a blatant obsession with Isaac, it's not confirmed that Isaac reciprocates her feelings. If anything, her portrayal in Isaac's Dying Dream paints her in a bad light.

Job System: Rebekah's gimmick; at the start of the run, you can select on the starting menu or interact with the starting dresser to change Rebekah's personality to different heart types in the game, giving her different stats, dashes, and pocket items. Dressers can also spawn on the later floors (whether starting room or post-boss fight) to freely change her persona, at the cost of being limited to only changing to whatever hearts she has. Red Heart, the introverted default personality. Makes her stats even across the field, and giving her a basic invulnerable dash ability. Her pocket item is Hugs N' Roses, a gun which fires multiple slightly stronger tears in a spread upon use. Soul Heart, the aloof spectral personality. Slightly boosting her base stats at the cost of luck, and turns her dash into a teleport that leaves ectoplasm creep at both start and end points. Her pocket item is the Wizoob Tongue, which fires a cluster of tears akin to Wizoob enemy. Black Heart: the mischievous evil personality. Damage is increased while the rest of her stats are reduced, her dash becomes a pseudo-teleport that damages enemies upon ending, and she spawns purple flames from firing her tears and dashing. Her pocket item is Apostate, which can spawn a purple brimstone laser that travels to all flames spawned by the dash. Gold Heart, the sophisticated personality. She gains a boost in damage and luck at the cost of her speed, her dash becomes a stomp that sends Terra rock projectiles outward, and . Her pocket item is Psalim .45, which spawns a low level familiar called "Ned", with Ned growing into stronger variants upon transitioning floors.
