Second Extinction is a semi-open world Co-Op Multiplayer FPS game published by Systemic Reaction (of Generation Zero fame). Set in a post-apocalyptic world where mutated dinosaurs have taken over the planet, humanity is on the brink of extinction. You're among a squadron of soldiers sent on assignments to take out the mutated dinosaurs and reclaim Earth for humanity. Players can select from a variety of characters, each with unique abilities and weapons, as well as going through various campaigns including wiping out dinosaur hives, collecting dinosaur eggs for research, rescuing stranded humans, collecting and salvaging supplies from ruins of human outposts and of course fighting gigantic Alpha-class dinosaurs in lengthy boss battles. An Early Access release is available for Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. An updated, full release was announced for late 2022, then pushed to early 2023, then delayed indefinitely with no official announcement. On October 16th, 2023, Systemic Reaction officially announced that they were discontinuing development of Second Extinctionnote According to them, this was due to the overall lack of sales preventing the game from justifying the large budget expenditure that would have been required to fix certain unforseen critical technical issues which were preventing a full release, with the game to be removed from sale on all digital storefronts, and the servers shut down sometime in 2024.

Attack Its Weak Point | |
Second Extinction (Video Game) / int_78453a1d | comment |
Attackits Weak Point: Flatbacks and Bulls have a glowing weak point on their belly, however you need to knock them over to expose it, which usually involves dodging their full-body tackle attack for the Flatback or knocking them over with explosives. The T-Rex has a similar weak point on its throat, though it's very hard to hit unless you're right under it (where you'll quickly be killed) or the T-Rex is roaring.

Videogame Dashing | |
Second Extinction (Video Game) / int_aafdef28 | comment |
Video Game Dashing: You can dodge sideways several feet by pressing the jump button while strafing sideways or backwards. This move doesn't use stamina and is essential for the game's combat, since dinosaurs can easily outpace you if you simply try to sprint away from them, and sprinting cancels your reload while dodging doesn't. Assault-class characters also have a special move in which they dash forward a moderate distance; this does have a cooldown and seems to be to quickly attack with a shotgun or similar close-range weapon.
