Character Select Forcing: In contrast to the previous game enabling the player to cycle through all five Titans at any time, this game instead forces the player to play as one Titan per level (though it is possible to summon the other four to get past obstacles the selected Titan is unable to get through).

Boss-Arena Idiocy: Beast Boy's battle with Monsieur Mallah is stacked against Mallah's favor because using Beast Boy's rhino charge ability when Mallah is open to attack causes Mallah to be knocked into an electrified wall that will cause considerable damage to Mallah's health bar.

Ring-Out Boss: The first General Immortus boss fight where Cyborg fights him has Immortus' defeat done by punching his cannon askew, using Cyborg's sonic cannon to blast away his vehicle's secondary turrets and pushing him towards a fragile platform until he plummets through it.

Expressive Health Bar: Much like in the previous game, the health bars for the Titans and two of the game's bosses (General Immortus and Monsieur Mallah, The Brain's boss fight doesn't have a health bar) are accompanied by an icon of the character's face that grins when at full health, but starts to frown and become more agitated as more damage is taken, to the extent that the face looks completely terrified when health is extremely low.

Tactical Suicide Boss: Most of the boss fights against Immortus and Mallah have them repeat an action that serves no purpose other than to make it easy for the player to inflict tremendous damage to their health, such as Starfire's battle with General Immortus having him briefly deactivate his vehicle's force field and Raven's battle with Monsieur Mallah having Mallah sometimes drop oil drums that Raven can telekinetically throw at Mallah.
