Wakfu is a tactical turn-based MMORPG developed by Ankama, set 1,000 years after its predecessor Dofus. The power of Dofus has brought upon an era of peace, but the age had came to an end when Ogrest managed to get his hands on the six dragon eggs, supplanting the gods in power. Making Mount Zinit his lair, the denizens of the World of Twelve took up their weapons to storm into the mountain to take him down once and for all. One among them is the chosen hero, the one who will gather the artifacts to put an end to Ogrest's terror. That chosen one happens to be you, a freshly incarnated soul that dropped in from Incarnam.Like its predecessor, battles take place in instanced fields, with players taking turns between themselves, their allies, and the enemies. There are eighteen classes available to pick from, each of them having defined roles and abilities, of which can be customized to fit the playstyle of the user. Also like its predecessor, the economy is heavily user-influenced, with materials aplenty to use for crafting, a wide range of equipment to make and wear, and copious amounts of puns and tongue-in-cheek humor to make the world a bit more lively to wander around in.Unlike its predecessor, however, Wakfu features environmental and political influence that is heavily dependent on the playerbase, represented by the Wakfu/Stasis gauge unique to each player. Resources are finite, necessitating the need to replant crops, respawn wildlife, etc., to ensure the world thrives, making it possible to run them into extinction if payers are irresponsible. Conversely, it's also possible to overpopulate the land with resources, which necessitates culling the population to manageable numbers. The four nations are also helmed by a player-run government, dictating the laws of their nation. Citizens of each nation need to abide by the laws, gaining Citizenship Points for following certain actions, or losing them for breaking them. Going under a certain threshold marks you as an Outlaw, making you open to getting sent to jail if you get killed in the open.

Karma Meter: Citizenship Points works this way. You gain points for following your rights, and lose points for breaking laws. With enough points you'll be able to vote or even run for an office position. Conversely, going in the red makes you an outlaw, which can get you jailed if you get killed in battle by another player. On a lesser scale is the Wakfu-Stasis alignment, which is accrued whenever you create life by planting seeds of wildlife and flora, or conversely taking life by cutting plants and hunting monsters. That said, it's explicitly stated that both Wakfu and Stasis are essential in keeping the balance, and being strongly aligned with either one gets you access to their respective Source area, which can grant you exclusive benefits.

Elemental Powers: Wakfu features the elements of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water, each element having some defined theme. Most classes have three of them associated with them, though the Huppermage has access to all four.

Call a Rabbit a "Smeerp": Many of the monsters and items, while based on real-life , are either completely different names or just slightly different. No, they're not apples they're apis.

G-Rated Sex: The wildlife is capable of copulating and reproducing if left to their devices. If you're passing by the herds of Gobbballs for example, you might catch them—ahem—bouncing on a Gobbette.

Falling into the Plot: This is how the player gets dropped into the World of Twelve, in humorous fashion. After wandering through Incarnam, they get booted off by a Darth Wodent into the Celestial Island of Rii, where they get introduced to Grougaloragran. Then once they're ready to leave Rii, they get booted off by the same Wodent again, straight into the home of Pappy Pal and Mammy Pal.

Anti-Frustration Features: If you don't feel fond of your first choice, you're allowed to freely change your class until level 30, giving you ample time to experiment before you commit. Emotes, Cosmetics, and Professions are account-wide, per server. If your first character has the Laugh emote, for example, your future characters will have it too, reducing the need to grind out all the unlocks, profession levels, etc.
