Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })Nerus is a furry Ren'Py-based Visual Novel. Based deeply on Valentian Gnostic mythology, it has a deep sense of surrealism. The story as it is follows two seemingly at first unrelated narratives: the romance of the shapeshifters Nerus and Shax and the post-apocalyptic adventures of Alessia and Bitey. Underlying this is the eternal struggle between "angels" and "demons". Parallels gradually begin to emerge, and soon the bigger picture is unveiled.Contains NSFW elements including but not limited to violence, sex scenes (some of which entiely skippable, others not) and philosophical musings.

After the End: The second narrative takes place +3000 years AD. The battle between "angels" and shapeshifters caused ecological disasters (something that the archon Noch notes would have happened anyway due to humanity's trajectory), destroyed most of Europe and Asia and split the Moon in two. It was so devastating that the archons forsook The Masquerade altogether and imposed themselves on earth, forming seven churches and restricting technological development to pre-industrial levels. Also there's now werewolves, vampires and animal people walking around.

Anachronic Order: The two central narratives are placed non-linearly in relation to one another. Chapter 2 in particular goes fully in as it is narrated by an observer picking events from different timelines to watch.
