Chronicles of Brawl is a former Smash Bros. Machinima web series created by MickeyMurk. So far, 12 episodes have been released. As of Episode 12, the series has transitioned to 3D Animation. This series takes place in a world which combines the lore of Zelda, Mario, and Sonic, among other iconic video game characters featured in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Demise, the conniving demon king of old has been lurking in the shadows looking, swearing vengeance on Hyrule and deities who are seemingly the creators of the world. It is up to our main hero Link and his friends to defeat his array of formidable warriors and put an end to Demise's dark ambitions. One of whom includes Link's longtime enemy, Ganondorf the King of Thieves.Unlike most Smash Bros Machinima, this series features an Anime Character among the cast of video game characters. One of the prominent main characters is Yoko from the Anime Gurren Lagann, whose origin in the story remains a mystery.

Back from the Dead: Sethos performs a ritual to revive a deceased Bowser so he can aid in Demise's plan to overthrow the Goddesses of Hyrule. It's heavily implied that Mario killed Bowser prior to the beginning of the series.

Ax-Crazy: Sethos embodies this trope, straight up. He's a blood-thirsty, crazed and psychopathic angel who revels in death and destruction. He gets ecstatic at the thought of burning down a village and eagerly volunteers to kill Link while he's unconscious and under their capture.

Curb-Stomp Battle: Link and the rest of our heroes are on the receiving end of this, courtesy of Demise's minions. Demise doesn't need to lift a finger as Ganondorf solos Marth and Ike, Nefeya curb stomps the Mario Bros, Dark Link tortures his former host Link and Scrouge pummels Sonic mercilessly. The only one who doesn't seem to struggle in battle is Shadow, who effortlessly beats Metal Sonic. The only reason the crew escapes is because of Falco and their female allies arriving to their aid and even then, Mario and Shadow get left behind after the former sacrifices himself to buy some time for his friends to escape and Shadow rescues him.

Early-Installment Weirdness: In episodes prior to Episode 12, Link and Zelda's appearances were based on Skyward Sword. Currently, Link's appearance is taken from his Hyrule Warriors design and Zelda's appearance now takes elements from both her Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild appearances. It was hinted that Mario had locked Bowser away during the first couple of episodes. However, episode 9 confirms that Bowser was dead and has now been resurrected thanks to Sethos. In the original version of episode 1, Marth and Link had first met. But in the remake, their rivalry is changed so that they know each other from the start.

Heroic Sacrifice: After realising they have no chance of surviving a battle with Demise and his minions, Mario buys his allies some time to escape by holding off a newly revived and strengthened Bowser. He seemingly dies... though not before Shadow rescues him from Giga Bowser's scorching onslaught of flames. Link also willingly gives himself up to Nefeya in Episode 6 when she threatens to kill Amy. This inadvertently leads to the emergence of Dark Link who in turn holds Nefeya hostage so that he can be set free from Link's mind.

Wild Card: Bowser suspects Dark Link to be this as Demise reluctantly accepts him as a minion but makes it clear that he will destroy him along with Link should he double-cross him. Additionally, Demise senses the first incarnation of Link within him, implying there may be some good in him, this is something Dark Link himself deeply resents.

Big Bad: Demise. Demise is the one who created Ganondorf and reviving him has been Ganondorf's motivation for his designated path of destruction on Hyrule. When he finally arrives, he spends no time hesitating to make his power known and swiftly puts Dark Link under his thumb by overwhelming him with his power and threatening to kill him if he ever dares to betray him.

Love Triangle: Link and Yoko have developed feelings for each other, which seems to have put a strain on the bond between Link and Zelda. Zelda laments her strained relationship with Link and expresses jealousy during the first few episodes.

Berserk Button: Do NOT imply that Yoko and especially Daisy are weaker compared to their male peers, they will fight to dispute this. Dark Link absolutely despises Link and does NOT take kindly to being compared to him. Bringing up the First Hero is also guaranteed to anger him, Bowser learns this in Episode 12.

comment
Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Link and Marth are frequently at odds with each other, constantly belittling and threatening each other. Marth even goes so far as to blame their crushing defeat by Demise's minions solely on Link, which amplifies the bad blood between them. Shadow and Fox seem to barely tolerate each other as allies, often hurling insults at each other. Link and Zelda can sometimes give off this vibe, as their bond appears to have been heavily strained. Mario and Sonic seem to have a friendly rivalry and often compete to one up the other. This goes triple for our cast of villains, as each of them makes it no secrete that they despise a few or ALL of their own teammates. Sethos seems to do as he pleases without any regard for his superior's plans, Dark Link only swears allegiance to Demise and the rest out of compensation for freeing him, Scourge only joins for the sole purpose of becoming stronger and Bowser plans on backstabbing Demise the second he gets a chance. Wolf is a more tragic example, he's currently being forced to serve Demise after the latter killed his team, Star Wolf. Demise also reaffirms his suspicions and distrust towards Dark Link, as he forces him into submission, warning him that he would kill him if he proved to be a liability.

Adaptational Wimp: Amy Rose, Princess Peach, Princess Zelda and Yoko don't seem to have many abilities from their home series, nor do they seem to have much combat ability. Although somewhat justified with Yoko due to her suffering from amnesia of her past.

Art Evolution: This series started off using Super Smash Bros Brawl as a filming engine, albeit with various hacks to feature characters such as Yoko, Princess Daisy, Amy Rose, and Demise and original characters such as Sethos. However, the models and modded animations looked rather primitive and clunky, especially the modded Zelda model to make her appear like her incarnation from Skyward Sword, which didn't blink. Gradually, the animations got more refined and the production reached much better heights compared to before, it's reached a point where you often forget it's being filmed in a videogame! Taken up to eleven in Episode 12, where the series has transitioned to 3D Animation. On top of the improved models, rigging and lighting. Motion capture is even utilised for some scenes. It's like day and night watching the original version of episode 1 and the latest episode back to back!

Composite Character: Zelda's appearance in previous episodes was directly based on her iteration in Skyward Sword. Since episode 12, her design seems to be a mixture of her appearance from Skyward Sword and Breath of the wild, having the former's likeness and the latter's attire in clothing (albeit coloured white) respectively.
