As the entirety of this storyline contains interconnected plotpoints across multiple episodes and movies, spoilers from nearly every prior SMG4 story arc up to this point are to be expected, some of which are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!PUZZLEVISION is the eighth SMG4 Story Arc, as well as the second overarching storyline following the channel's three-part Cosmology Saga.Following one hell of a revelation (and nearly getting a dreaded DMCA from Nintendo itself), the SMG4 Crew remain as strong as ever, this time with the intent to make big changes and more wacky meme-filled adventures. However, something ominous, something very mysterious is lurking in the shadows, causing unspeakable chaos as it plays according to its own plans.Whatever insidious plot it has for our dysfunctional group of misfits, one thing is absolutely clear: They (and the viewers) are in for quite a show... regardless of the consequences! In a departure from the usual storyline structure of previous SMG4 story arcs, PUZZLEVISION mainly comprises multiple episodes across four mini-arcs, each centering on a member of SMG4's rambunctious crew, all of which serve to shake up the current status quo to its very core.

He is also used by SMG4 to land the final blow on Mr. Puzzles, sending the latter flying into the distance.

Genre Roulette: All the major stories follow a different genre. It's Gotta Be Perfect is a horror story where SMG4's obsession starts manifesting in the real world as corruptive Meat Moss. Western Spaghetti starts out as a Spaghetti Western parody before revealing itself as a Weird West psychological horror tale. War Of The Fat Italians 2023 drops all horror elements and is a lighthearted heist movie pastiche. The lead up to the main Puzzlevision show combines analogue horror and psychological horror as the cast are forced to perform parodies of TV shows against their will. In the movie, once Mario inadvertently escapes and frees his friends from mind control, it becomes a more action focused plot with the cast racing against time to stop Mr. Puzzles from taking over the world.

One-Shot Wren didn't have to drag Meggy and her friends into his simulation. He knows Meggy won the last Splatfest, as he says in his Motive Rant that that's why he wants her there. He also knows where she lives, as he was able to break into her house and steal hernote originally his beanie while she was asleep, and there's no indication that this rather personal information was given to him by Mr. Puzzles. So... why didn't he simply seek her out and ask her for help getting back on his feet? Doing so would have undoubtedly steered their conversation to her career as a sports coach, which she could have used to give Wren the confidence he needed to find a job and/or relive his Glory Days in another way. Imagine how honored Meggy would have felt to be helping the person she idolized and looked up to, and the friendship they could have formed along the way... which Meggy says in his final moments that that's all she wanted.

SMG4 wants to make the best video ever. Okay, fine... but why exactly does he feel he has to spend nonstop consecutive weeks working on it in complete isolation? Anyone who has had to work on a huge video project will tell you that taking breaks does wonders for your mental health. They'll also tell you that there's nothing wrong with having help from your friends for your project. SMG4 is capable of both of these things—there's no indication that SMG4 was on a time limit or deadline to get his video finished, and past videos have showed his friends getting involved with his creative works to some capacity—yet fails on both accounts. He cuts himself off from his friends to the point of lashing out at them for accidentally knocking out his WiFi, and while he does come prepared with plenty of snacks and spare keyboardsnote and even their usefulness is questionable, as him throwing a keyboard away every time he screws up is downright wasteful, he refuses to take a shower or go to sleep. This does as much good for his physical and mental health as you can imagine, to the point where his Exhaustion-Induced Idiocy allows him to accept an obviously shady purchase that leads to a string of events that doomed Peach's castle.

Central Theme: The cost of seeking perfection. All antagonists seek something that's either beyond their reach or unsustainable and end up worse in the end. SMG4 becomes obsessed with making a perfect video and in the process gets himself posessed by the "Completely Normal Keyboard" and loses his home in Peach's castle. One-Shot Wren lost his fame and glory and when given a chance to live his fantasies in a virtual world, becomes a mad tyrant, killing Meggy over and over for his amusement. In the end, he is killed when he overloads the machine, Meggy lamenting that she only wanted to be friends. Mario's OC Marty got himself a sweet deal running the Showground Pizzarea but still wanted more so stole SMG3's notebook to obtain the secret pizza recipie within. He ends up in jail for his crime and, as the physical notebook reveals, the recipie wasn't even good anyway. Mr Puzzles with his manipulations and powers got himself three grand "shows" out of the crew but he desired a perfect 5 star rating to control the entire world. By the end, in seeking perfection, he's undone by both simple blunders from Mario and the Gang embracing their imperfection and chaos to make their own show that outdoes his.

Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Pretty much every villain in this saga could have achieved their goals or found peace through normal and legal means, but chose to use illegal, underhanded, or even downright dangerous tactics to get them. Imagine how honored Meggy would have felt to be helping the person she idolized and looked up to, and the friendship they could have formed along the way... which Meggy says in his final moments that that's all she wanted. Marty's protest in "You Made Mario Do This" is innocent enough; people were taking all the money he's rightfully earned from the pizza shop he was working at, and spending it on the new castle. After Lui makes SMG4 realize this, he decides to give Marty co-ownership of the castle to make it up to him, so you assume that conflict is over. And by all accounts, it should be over; Marty's now living comfortably within the castle, still making good money at the pizza shop, and beating Depresso at chess... but as soon as Marty gets wind of a certain pizza recipe, all bets are off. Even before that, his connections to the mafia don't exactly help matters. If Mr. Puzzles really wanted the SMG4 gang to act in his shows, instead of basically kidnapping and brainwashing them (just like Wren before him), he could have just held auditions, advertised for actors, gone to them for help directly... basically do what any normal director of a TV show would do when looking for actors. All of this could have been done before the "perfect video" mini-arc got off the ground, when the gang would have been more likely to trust him, and while they still had Peach's castle to call home. Furthermore, the style of the Puzzlevision Originals doesn't seem much different from the pop culture parodies SMG4 himself has done in the past, making this feel like a dream job for them if they were able to consent to Puzzlevision's works.

SMG4 himself, and in particular his growing perfectionist tendencies, are the threat of the It's Gotta Be Perfect arc. One-Shot Wren is revealed to have fallen off since his Splatfest glory days and become the tyranical ruler of a digital world, Western Spaghetti, he traps the gang in. Mario's OC Marty is revealed to be behind the theft of SMG3's notebook, kicking off WOTFI 2023
