And so begins the story of Cailen, a happy little boy who receives a camera for his sixth birthday. Enraptured by his newfound interest in photography, he takes pictures of anything and everything, until an unfortunate accident causes him to break his camera.Heartbroken, Cailen can't sleep, tormented with guilt over the loss of his perfect camera. But what's this? A tapping at the window? Cailen opens the blinds to see a strange creature calling itself a sleep fairy named Cipsneed! Cipsneed knows all the boys and girls in the world, and it's his job to help them sleep, you see. And Cailen hasn't been sleeping right at all, has he? Cailen admits that he's crushed over the loss of his camera.Not to worry! Cipsneed, ever a helpful little fellow, promises to fix Cailen's camera if he'll just accompany him to a portal to his home world. There, Cipsneed knows of a factory where they can fix Cailen's camera right up! Surely the strange fellow can be trusted... right?The Kid and the Camera is a short film by GrumbledEntertainment, animated in Blender, but made to look like Claymation. The fact that it's billed as a horror film might spoil the rest of the synopsis, but it's extremely unsettling and a damn fine watch nonetheless.Originally uploaded as part of Night Mind's 2022 Candy Bowl, it was uploaded as its own standalone short in 2023 to the producers' channel.
