Titan Academy (alternatively called Class T1T5), is an ongoing web series made in 2018 by Singaporean YouTuber JianHao Tan, who started as a normal YouTuber in 2010 until he exploded in popularity and managed to create his own company called Titan Digital Media, in which his overall persistence made him the top content creator of Singapore, and this series is a product of them.The premise of JianHao's normal videos is pretty simple: JianHao would describe the types of people that could be found during certain times at school within Singapore, in which several people from his team would act as those stereotypes, often to hilarious effects. At 2018, he noticed that one of his videos, which was based on school life, somehow became the channel's most viewed video. JianHao saw this as an opportunity, and by this time, he has gathered a lot more consistent group of fellow personalities under his company, so instead of using the usual formula of assigning the actors with revolving cast, JianHao instead expanded on the school life video, forming a recurring cast of characters and the particular series turned from a plot-less slice of life story into a slice of life story with a more consistent continuity.The series takes place in the fictional school of Titan Academy in Singapore, where JianHao's character, named Tan Jianhao, is the rebellious rich kid enrolled in the school and a student of the titular Class T1T5, dubbed "the worst class in existence" that seems to get worse and worse... with the sole exception of the star student, the overly studious genius Denise (Denise Soong Ee Lyn). The series chronicles the misadventures of Jianhao with his group of friends, consisting of the aforementioned Denise, self-proclaimed "cool kid" Vincent (Vincent Sin), nerdy bookworm Ren Yi Xiang (Ridhwan Azman), chubby and emotional Kevin (Kevin Foo), awkward and nerdy girl Debbie (Debbie Soon), Jianhao's sister Nicole (Nicole Low), and many more; as they encounter various school hijinks, archetypical characters, varying types of teachers, daily life of teenagers and most importantly and the dreaded exams (everyone is worried as heck to just pass, while Denise is concerned on getting perfect scores).Eventually, Class T1T5 also got a junior class enrolling, dubbed as Class N4T1, with its own cast of characters and varying personalities. After the COVID-19 Pandemic, however, the show starts a swing to Darker and Edgier territory with the students facing a crisis where a nebulous Organization is put in charge of the company to help its ailing finances, but the Organization was only interested in making a profit out of their ownership of the Academy and wouldn't give a damn if they're making the students' lives hell in process.There's also a short film titled I Am A Teacher, which chronicled the tales of the former Class T1T5 Sadist Teacher Madam Soot Beng after a certain incident resulted in her dismissal from Titan Academy.JianHao Tan's channel, and consequently, most of Titan Academy can be found here. The show becomes popular enough that one of the cast members, Rainer Lim (Sunny), launched a smartphone game named Class Rush, a short Running Game (not Endless) where the player takes the role of one of the Class T1T5 students to run and arrive at the class in time while collecting gems and avoiding various obstacles, available in Google Play Store.Titan Academy provides examples of: | |
