Twitch Plays Pokémon (TPP) is a series of social experiments in which commands representing buttons on an original Game Boy Advance (up, down, left, right, A, B, L, R, start, and select) are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, hundreds of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a few religions.Twitch Plays Pokémon Vega is the ninth and final run of the seventh season, which ran from December 12th, 2020 to December 25th, 2020. The game featured, Pokémon Vega, is an extensive hack of Pokémon FireRed set in the brand new region of Tohoak. It is a sequel to Pokémon Sirius, another hack that was played on stream earlier that year, and features 386 different Pokémon, among which the 83 original species introduced in Sirius and 99 brand new ones. The character picked for this run was a girl named AAGMt, thus directly contradicting the storyline of the game itself which insists on her being the main character from Sirius. To add to the confusion, Gordon, her male counterpart and supposed rival from the previous game, was replaced with BBCBBHH, the main character from the Sirius run, during which the rival was actually the female counterpart April who is now treated as the then main character as AAGMt.Just like Sirius, this run introduced a whole new set of "fakemon" chat badges awarded to viewers upon capture, with their own set of numbers ranging from #161-vega to #385-vega. This time however, the system was nerfed so that, unlike regular badges which are awarded to five random players who have inputted in the previous 30 minutes, "fakemon" badges would drop to every single player who has inputted either during the previous 5 minutes or during the last battle. This was done in order to prevent "fakemon" badges from becoming overly rare and/or being awarded strictly to inactive users.See also here for the archived status of the run.

Identical Twin Mistake: One popular explanation as for why everyone seems to think that AAGMt is the Hoenn Champion from Sirius rather than BBCBBHH is that the two are actually identical twins (and that the people of Tohoak are not very observant).

Curb-Stomp Battle: The initial run against the Elite 4 was pretty one-sided, with Serplant managing to take down all four members by itself while sustaining minimal damage, resulting in AAGMt facing the Champion with a team almost at full health.

The Unfought: BBCBBHH was intended by the devs to use his rematch team when fought for the second time, with Groudon (which was present in Sirius but not in Vega) being either replaced by Manaphy or manually re-inserted into the game. However, neither actually happened, due to the chat opting to just not fight him a second time.

"Cavemen vs. Astronauts" Debate
Twitch Plays Pokémon Vega (Web Video) / int_49d5dd74

"Cavemen vs. Astronauts" Debate: There was a surprisingly heated debate over what AAGMt's mean of locomotion◊ exactly is. Some simply assumed that it was some sort of large skateboard that doubled as a snowboard, hence why the game called it a "Double Board". Others however were adamant that it was some kind of small car, arguing that it was too large to be a board and that AAGMt position made it look like she was sitting rather than standing. The first group retaliated by pointing out that AAGMt actually stood taller when using it and that it lacked any feature that would clearly identify it as a car, and things escalated from there. A third group simply decided that it was a board that turned into a car and left it at that.

Level Grinding

Level Grinding: Because challenging a Gym Leader increases the friendship of the team more than a loss decreases it, the Voices had AAGMt repeatedly challenge and lose on purpose to Gym Leader Brooke in order to gain enough friendship to evolve Togepi into Togetic and Pikachu into Machu. Because this trick only works up to 200 friendship points, and both need 220 points to evolve, they then made her drive around on her skateboard until they earned enough points to evolve.

Utility Party Member: TGMONNVV, AAGMt's Nostratos, already knew the HMs Fly and Waterfall by the time the game was beaten. Eventually, its two other moves, Dragon Dance and Dragon Claw, were replaced by Rock Smash and Strength in order to more easily navigate late-game areas, leaving its entire moveset composed of HM moves.

Luck-Based Mission: The Lapizula Gym pretty much turned into this due to its puzzle relying on navigating a maze of moving boulders on a slippery floor, thus requiring precise timing when sliding from one boulder to the next, which, well, is not exactly TPP's forte. As a matter of fact it took AAGMt well over five hours to get from the Gym's entrance to the Leader, and even when spamming the Select button in order to slow down gameplay, getting the timing of the inputs to perfectly align with the movements of the boulders still relied heavily on sheer luck.

Previous Player-Character Cameo

Previous Player-Character Cameo: The fight against Gordon on Ice Island was replaced by a fight against BBCBBHH from the Pokémon Sirius run, using his first Hall of Fame team. Due to an oversight however, the external script that was meant to replace his in-game team wasn't running, which led him to open the battle with a Nidoking, then to send a Nostratos, two Pokémon he never actually used. The script was restarted, which led to Nostratos turning back into the intended Breloom (although still knowing Nostratos moveset). There was also a fight intended against BBCBBHH using his rematch team, with Groudon either replaced by Manaphy or manually re-inserted into the game (since it is present in Sirius, but not in Vega). However, the Voices never actually bothered to battle him a second time, leaving his revamped team as The Unfought.

Series Continuity Error

Series Continuity Error: Pokémon Vega assumes that the player picked the same character that they did in Pokémon Altair/Sirius, and treats them as such, with NPCs referring to them as the former Hoenn Champion and as the one who defeated Team White Hole and Team Black Hole. TPP, however, picked the male character in Sirius, but the female character in Vega, creating a blatant inconsistency. Not helping matters is that Gordon, the male character, is treated as the rival from Altair/Sirius, whereas TPPs rival in Sirius was April, the female character... and Gordon himself was replaced in this run by BBCBBHH, the actual player character from the Sirius run. Due to a Lua script not being properly activated, the Legacy Boss Battle against BBCBBHH initially used the wrong team. As a result, he first sent out a Nidoking, a Pokémon that he never actually caught, then followed with a Nostratos, a Pokémon that he did catch but barely ever used, much less entered into the Hall of Fame (not to mention, his was named "AHN").

Nerf: The chat badges distribution system was nerfed in this run in order to prevent "fakemon" badges from becoming virtually impossible to obtain.
