No Hero to His Valet: Admiral Astler Leit is feared and revered by the lower ranked soldiers and even his equally ranked compatriots for his power and skill with Cael. But Shinsa is an exceptional demon strong enough to not be intimidated, and more importantly sees through his persona to the socially awkward and kind boy that he is, and so pulls him out of his shell to interact more.

Mad Scientist: There's very little Icarus will stop at to learn more about demons and Cael at large. Upsetting Astler gives her pause, so she won't do experiments that hurt his sensibilities...openly.

The Republic: Coelcaitus. With Shin-An's downfall, They're the strongest known regime due to their Cael-wielding "Angels". They don't outright abuse their subjects, but they do neglect those less connected to the central goverment, with the Archangel in particular shown to be unaware and easily manipulated regarding matters outside her closest isles.

Government Conspiracy: The archangels are immortals who started out as child supersoldiers, but ended up conquering the entire planet, which was formerly like our very own modern Earth. Then, intentionally or not, they destroyed it through overuse of Cael power, and spent most of the regime's attention covering up their sins. Also, Nox, the red matter creating demons, is a toxic byproduct of Cael usage, which means angels using their powers is directly responsible for all the demonic corruption plaguing the world.

Magic A Is Magic A
 Blue Matter (Webcomic) / int_6c3d1777

Magic A Is Magic A: Cael is the driving force behind the powers in the series. Angels manipulate it telekinetically, whereas Demons use it to enhance their physical powers and manipulate their own Cael-soaked blood. Angels are diffrentiated by their exact leanings and proficiencies in how they manipulate Cael: Affinity: General ability to handle Cael. Capacity: Total amount of Cael an angel can manipulate at once. User excelling in this area can usually affect the largest scale with their attacks. Speed: Speed of manipulation, leading to faster attacks and quicker creation of constructs. Control: Level of finesse. Characters with high levels of control can create very intricate constructs, manipulate movement of many such constructs at once, and even create intricate phenomenon such as Cael clouds or fire. At the very peak of control, demonstrated by Icarus, it's possible to fly, control or cancel another person's Cael constructs, and even telekinetically move them around. Density: The ability to squeeze "mass" of Cael into a construct, creating, for example, tougher walls regardless of size. Range: The ability to manipulate Cael from further ranges. Can range from meters to miles.

Making a Splash / An Ice Person: Cael powers at their most commonly found aplication. Cael acts somewhat like water, and people capable of manipulating it can make constructs similar to ice and water for varied offensive, defensive and utility uses.

Weak, but Skilled: Lanning, at least at the start. She's a great sensor, navigator, and can fly a ship, but her combat capabilities are lacking compared to high ranking Cael users. seems to grow out of it over time, as she becomes capable of moving entire islands. Though her skillset still isn't the most practical for combat. Euclass is another example. He's so talented at cael manipulation he can whistand an unseen-before-12 shard halo. He can seal wounds with Cael, and program his constructs to act as almost sentient robots, being able to perform tasks even when he's not directly controlling them. But his capacity is tiny compared to the other named characters, so he's much better at support than direct combat.

Horror Hunger: The demonic curse. Even Shinsa is not exempted, despite being otherwise sane and sentient, but she can control it when not famished, and can limit herself to small amounts if she feeds on a powerful Cael user. Most other demons simply act on instincts to feed on any nearby Cael sources, most often humans.

Unskilled, but Strong: Shinsa is a mixed example. She's a prodigy at physical combat, but has zero affinity towards Cael manipulation. Luckily, she's a powerful demon, so her skillset are perfect for her enhanced physical prowess, to the point only Admiral class Cael users like Astler can stop her.

Darkest Hour: Ho boy, The mid season finale. the truth about Seraphina being partially responsible for the destruction of modern humanity came to light, and civil unrest is likely. Astler is incapacitated from his Halo limiters going offline. Huey was injected with Nux, and is at risk of becoming a mindless demon, and Icarus, the main reason the Hades organization was forced to retreat, used up so much of her power it's possible she won't be able to defend another attack.
