Doobl! is a dark and cynical webcomic about a little red guy named Doobl and his friends who are avid Christians. It starts off ideal and cheesy, but quickly slides down the scale after the creator's mother dies and he slowly gets more and more depressed. As it turns out, the whole thing is a hoax. The newspaper that the "suicide" was reported in (the "Dallas Times"), does not and has never existed. And the Church that the person claimed to be part of doesn't exist either. Someone was enjoying themselves setting the whole things up ...

Easter Egg: Most of the Bible verses in this image◊ have something to do with death.More explanationJudges 4:17-24 details Jael driving a tent peg through Sisera's forehead, Exodus 21:15 says that anyone who attacks their parents are to be killed, Joshua 1:18 remarks that anyone who doesn't obey the title character is to die, Jeremiah 19:6-9 prophecies the desolation of Tophet, Job 1:18-19 has the title character informed that all his children died in a freak accident, Numbers 25:1-9 details an Israelite man and a Midianite woman being murdered in order to stop God's plague on the Israelites, Proverbs 23:13-14 commands parents to punish their children to save them from death (presumably spiritual), Psalm 149:1-9 focuses on God's wrath in its second half, and Jeremiah 50:21-22 has God command his warriors to decimate Merathaim. The exceptions are Isaiah 57:3-4 (which focuses more on the hypocrisy of the sons of sinners mocking others) and Ezekiel 21:33-37 (which doesn't exist; the book stops at verse 32).

comment
Wham Line: The July 24th comic marks the series's turn to a Subverted Kids' Show with the line, "Don't you call me a sinner, you fucking Jew!" Naturally, the other characters react with shock. A few strips before it, Neek helps set the event in motion by stating that "Animals don't have souls!" And then one more strip brings out the From Bad to Worse trope to its fullest. "I wonder if she can outrun a bullet."

Pedophile Priest: It's heavily implied that Jess Hanley was one - if you read the old news, his church accuses him of having inappropriate relations with several young girls in the ministry, and though he denies it it's incredibly obvious that he was one. The clincher is if you read the final comic/obituary◊, where the cut-off text near the bottom has one of the head ministers remark that "[he'd] never seen someone who approached children in quite the same joyous [manner]", and that Jess blamed "drugs, alcohol, and the allure of underaged [girls]".

Foreshadowing: Doobl looks rather angry and angular. Readers might notice this and realize that, if he were actually the main character of a kid-friendly webcomic, he'd probably look a little more rounded or child-like. In fact, his attitude whenever he's focused on before Scue's hamster dies sounds more and more like he doesn't want to be in the comic.
