Poorly Drawn Lines is a webcomic created by Reza Farzamand, which he first published as a college freshman in his school newspaper. Since 2013, he has published the comic online on a full-time basis, with new comics being posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })The comic features a large and diverse cast of humans and animals who freely interact with each other. Much of the humor is nonsensical and surreal, often featuring the characters making an unexpectedly big deal out of minor inconveniences and reacting normally to ridiculous threats. Most of the comics are standalone, although there is frequently a tenuous continuity where decisions made by characters are reflected in later strips, such as Ernesto the bear wearing sunglasses and Bird holding an unlit cigarette in his mouth. In 2021, an animated series based on the strip was released on FXX's Cake anthology series. The series centers on roommates Ernesto, a green bear from outer space, and Kevin, a bird who tries to act cool, as well as their human friend Tanya. Not to be confused with poorly drawn stuff until @YouTube brings back the dislike count (also unofficially labelled as Poorly Drawn Comics), a Take That! webcomic series at YouTube.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); })

Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: A frequent punchline in the comic as well as the animated series, often manifesting in scenarios where the characters are confronted by a cosmic or supernatural horror only to immediately be concerned about something more mundane. An example in the pilot episode of the animated series is when a powerful Eldritch Abomination appears in the bathroom sink, but the characters treat it as a natural consequence of Kevin leaving snacks out in the bathroom.

A Dog Named "Dog": The vast majority of animal characters are named after their species, with Ernesto and Kevin being among the few exceptions. This is lampshaded and subverted in one comic, where a bird reveals that his name is "Mouse", which is only coincidental to the mice that are also named that.
