Library of the Damned was a website dedicated to riffing bad fanfiction. It was founded in 2011 by "Lyle", and quickly gained the aid of fellow riffers Ghostcat (AKA Ghostie), Taco Magic, Frozen Poodle Meat, Addicted Reader, and Psychic Librarian. As time passed, Frozen Poodle Meat and Psychic Librarian had to depart due to real life reasons, and AR left, came back, and seemingly left once more. "Lyle", Ghostcat, and Taco Magic had all remained full-time members of the staff, and four new permanent additions, Herr Wozzeck, Erttheking, SC, and Admiral Sakai had hopped onboard, although Erttheking went on extended hiatus before officially retiring in 2021 along with Herr Wozzeck. In 2018, former guest-riffer Batjamags joined the snark crew.There was also a robust cast of infrequent guest riffers: Angie, agigabyte, Kitty Noodles, Delta XIII, Crazy Minh, Zeus Killer Productions, and Elysium16. The Library had riffed such infamous fanfics as Its My Life, Forbiden Fruit: The Tempation of Edward Cullen and My Immortal, and had blown past two thousand five hundred posts by 2022, when it closed down.Each full-time Librarian released a riff on their assigned day of the week, Monday through Saturday, though the schedule remained flexible to account for those pesky real life matters. Sundays were reserved for guest-snarkers, posted on a first-come, first-served basis. In lieu of a guest riff, the Librarians would occasionally post fan art or a special spotlight for good fanfiction on Sundays.Between October 2021 and December 2021, the Library went on a abrupt hiatus, with no new riffs posted for more than two months. Batjamags and Admiral Sakai attempted to continue posting on a limited basis until March 2022. After over six months of absolute silence, it was unfortunately made clear by riffer SC that the Library was no longer an active project. While SC made it clear that there was a possibility that the site could make a comeback, he was clear that the Library was most likely closed as of September 30th 2022.The site remains open and visible, but whether or not new content will be posted is unknown. However, several Librarians and Patrons have participated in a new, similar site, the Asylum. | |
