A Spin-Off of the SporeWiki Fiction Universe, the SporeWiki Fantasy Universe is a Fanfic Shared Universe composed of a wiki-style Universe Compendium and various stories written by a number of different authors, typically written in the form of High Fantasy, Heroic Fantasy and Dark Fantasy, using Spore as an illustration tool. The setting takes place in the world named Koldenwelt, a planet where the forces of order and chaos have warred for dominance for thirty thousand years. Earthly gods of magic known as the Colossi governed the world during its infancy, conflicting with the gods of other planes known as the Simulacra and leading to untold devastation. The vilest of them, Caligaduro Provectus, would rule Koldenwelt for most of its ancient history, backed up by armies of Void Denizens, until the forces of the world successfully imprisoned him and his minions deep underground. With the end of the war against the demons, life begun to flourish once more across Koldenwelt's two continents. In the forests of the west, the elves created the Sovereignty of Dryada, becoming the greatest elven nation of modernity, while the humans of the east, who had a long and bitter rivalry with the elves, gave rise to the expansionist and xenophobic Empire of Man. In the central desert, the Merovar Dynasty has grown into the world's economical superpower, uniting the continent through its trading routes, and at the south, the Khargrim Greatholds maintains its place as the mightiest dwarven culture. However, while the forces of the Void were defeated, peace has not lasted; worshipers of the Simulacra prowl the dark corners of civilization, The Undead rise at the northeast, and the Void seeks to allow their master freedom once more...The SporeWiki Fantasy Universe lasted from 2011 to 2018, where it became an Orphaned Series due to its writers effectively leaving the website. While a reboot was attempted in 2019, featuring a completely new setting, it never really got off the ground. |

Evil Versus Evil: There are a lot of evil factions in the setting, and their goals typically don't align. This leads to fights, which the protagonists often take advantage of. During the late Eschaton, the Legion of Shiarchon was indiscriminately slaughtered by the demons of Kaicaiusarin, despite them both being servants of the Void. During the War of Vampires, the Brainwashed and Crazy Nightshade Clan fought the Vulcanus Horde and the Exosubstratal. Following the defeat of Caligaduro Provectus at the end of Eschaton, Ramainaualmari rebelled against the Void and became enemies with it due to seeing it as limiting to his potential, abandoning Void Magic and becoming a god of Dark Source Magic. Now his followers and the servants of Caligaduro no longer see each other eye to eye, to say the least. |

Among massacres and persecutions, she is said to be responsible for at least fifteen million deaths. |

However, there are a few cultures such as the Aithrena Elves and the Dalmiri who use dark magic with little impunity. Body Horror: Invariably what happens when you deal with primal magic. Victims end up transformed into bloated, fleshy abominations. Individuals inflicted with the Rat Curse become half-rat beings, with rat fur, tails, eyes, whiskers and skeletal structure, meaning they grow extra bones. This is more visible on the cursed being's legs. Abyssal magic, the magic used by Ramainaualmari's servants, causes the practitioner to become increasingly monstrous. In this case, however, the mutations tend to be not only expected, but welcomed by the servants of the dark god. |

Humans Are White: Played with. Koldenweltian humanity is fairly diverse ethnically; the first human faction introduced to the Fantasyverse was vaguely East Asian (presumably in appearance as well as culture), while the Empire, the main human government in the world, runs the gamut of colours from pale white (Saphronian Hetmanate) to dark brown (Karacayople). However, most human or half-human protagonists (Marcos, Clothovera, Valdemar, Sefarina, Norrigan) are fairly light-skinned (save for Javina). |

Fantastic Racism |

comment |
Fantastic Racism: It's a surprise diplomacy even works in the setting sometimes. Imperial Humans are the most prominent example, harboring a grudge against all elves due to most being former slaves of the Aithrena Elves. Mannazians are open to beastmen, but hate elves with a passion. Alhassans just hate everyone. While they're becoming better over time, the oldest Aithrena Elves still see Humans as sub-citizens at best and slaves at worse. Derevar Elves are often victims of this due to their anti-magical properties making them unpleasant to be close to for most other living beings. Up to the events of Steel of the Plagued Land, Khargrim Dwarves and Koll Dwarves did not long at all. The Orichalcum Elves believed themselves superior to all other races of Koldenwelt. When the demons of the Void arrived, they had no allies to call for. The Skaurovirn have an almost cartoony hatred for anyone who isn't their own kind, but they hate humans the most for no specific reason. |

Fantasy Counterpart Culture |
| SporeWiki Fantasy Universe (Website) / int_57d43e40 |
comment |
Fantasy Counterpart Culture: The first major antagonists introduced, the Legion of Shiarchon, are basically demonic Romans With their imperialistic tendencies, top hats, poshness and advanced technology, the Klaxxa are clearly based on The British Empire (although their empire is aerial rather than marine). Their larger cousins, the Draonoggr, are more Scandinavian. The real prize, however, goes to the Empire of Man. Being one of the largest Koldenwelti civilisations, it is composed of different provinces, with each province being a Culture Chop Suey in itself - L'Ammanori is a mixture of the Moorish Spain, Portugal and Medieval Italy, Saphronia is magical Russia with elements of Ukraine (its leader is called Hetman) and Scandinavia (having names like Valdemar and Freja), Alhassal encompasses Indian, Middle Eastern and North African cultures, and Karacayople is vaguely Turkic despite being inhabited by black people. The Empire as a whole is vaguely similar to the Tsarist Russia, being multiethnic, colonialist as well as huge, but is also a bit like its eventual successor, having been founded through a brutal revolution of the oppressed underclass against the wealthy elite (in the Empire's case, the aristocrats being elves). Its origin as a group of colonies banded together against their parent state evokes Eagleland, while its search for its own national identity is reminiscent of the Civil Rights Movement, with a dash of Malcolm Xerox. Finally, the state humans have slowly fallen into following their liberation - becoming a massive authoritarian nationalistic empire that worships its leader and fosters disdain for the outside world - is somewhat similar to one German party... |

Enemy Mine: Nations tend to unite to fight world-threatening forces, even if they can't stand each other normally. A number of nations who normally don't work together joined forces to push back the Legion of Shiarchon during the War for the Eye and Eschaton. A number of evil Simulacra who absolutely loathe each other also contributed due to their mutual hatred for Caligaduro Provectus. The Khargrim Greatholds and the Koll Dwarves of Qliphoth joined forces to combat the Vulcanus Horde in Steel of the Plagued Land. |

Heel–Face Turn: Javina Desertsun started out outright antagonistic, but has slowly been turning a new leaf. Very, very slowly, but she has. Alhazred was at first fully loyal to Zran Kar, but eventually realized she treated him much better than his master ever did. Arcturus, a Shiarchon Praetor, changed sides after being captured by the Warriors of Dar-Nahalant during the Fall of Talmyr. At the climax of The Storm Chaser, Dragostea manages to convince the Moon King to reconsider his plans, which appears to make him give up on the whole "remake Koldenwelt in my own image" business. Only time will tell if it'll stick. In the backstory, this happened to Varelos von Dalverat. While he started out as a ruthless conqueror, he mellowed out with age, no longer wishing war upon the world so that his children would no longer die. |

Knight in Shining Armor: Norrigan of Aynach, quite literally post-ascension. The entire order of the Knights of the All-Seeing (which Norrigan is now leader of) is this. It's an order of Aynachian knights motivated by nothing but altruism and the ideals that the world doesn't belong to humankind; rather it belongs to all children of Isiris, who are all equal under Her gaze. Tales of their feats are legendary, and they're seen as heroes by humankind and as a good reason not to mess with Aynach by their enemies. |

Go Mad from the Revelation: An interesting case happened with the Crux, the Simulacrum of violence. He was always an Eldritch Abomination by mortals standards, but in a time before time, he was relatively neutral, content to exist in his realm with his creations. However, at some point, he decided to explore the universe beyond his realm, leading him to discover Isiris' design - that is, "our" material plane. What unfolded was that the Crux was not able to comprehend what he witnessed; the material plane was as alien to him as he was to mortals. The revelation that the rest of this existence was, by his standards, one massive Eldritch Location ruled by forces he couldn't understand completely shattered his mind, transforming him into the Mad God of Evil we have now. |

Black Magic: Dark magic is one of the divine schools of the Source, with its practitioners being called umbramancers. While not inherently evil, it tends to attract bad people for... obvious reasons. Ramainaualmari has its own type of umbramancy called abyssal magic, which is essentially dark magic empowered by the Simulacrum. |

Our Vampires Are Different: Koldenwelt's vampires are creations of the dark god Zran Kar and are divided in Pureblood Vampires, a race of bat-like monsters, and Halfblood Vampires, your typical large-fanged guy who got bitten in the neck by either a Pureblood or another Halfblood. Succubi and Incubi are a type of vampire rather than demons. |

Fantastic Naming Convention |
| SporeWiki Fantasy Universe (Website) / int_9ffbadef |
comment |
Fantastic Naming Convention: Some, though not all, Koldenweltian species have definite naming conventions. The Orichalcum Elves and their descendants the Shiarchon, usually have Roman names (e.g Constantius Castus Matthias Laurentius - the full name of the local dark elven Evil Overlord). Other elf races too on occasion have Roman-ish or Greek-ish names or at least surnames (e.g Bertonius, Aerember, Moirai). Klaxxa full names are fairly long and sound both harsh and slightly Celtic (e.g Arkendhain O'Lakweonn); however, they are usually referred by their short names, which are comprised of the two first syllables of their first name and the first syllable of their surname separated by a dash (e.g Arken-Lak). Human surnames are almost always Luke Nounverber and often meaningful (e.g Desertsun, Brightwing), while their first names are fairly mundane, if unusual/archaic (Marcos, Valdemar, Adalla) and usually taken from the cultures their provinces are based on. |

Kaiju: The Colossi all qualify, as they are all at least 100 meters (~320 feet) tall, long, or both. The Old Colossi tended to be far larger than the New ones, possibly due to have been alive for far longer, with the smallest being around the 300 meter mark. Nalúnt, the Storm Colossus and one of the few Old Colossi still alive is roughly a kilometer long. Kami the Primeval, the first Kamehebi, was large enough that when he died, his cracked shell became a small archipelago. The reigning crown, however, belongs to Tritonomarth, the Old Colossus of Water, who was estimated to be three kilometers tall and over fifteen kilometers long. He was large enough that other Colossi could comfortably rest on his head. |

Humans Are Indexed |
| SporeWiki Fantasy Universe (Website) / int_cbab8168 |
comment |
Humans Are Indexed: Humans are one of the main types of Deiwos in the setting, with the Empire of Man being the main human faction. Humans Advance Swiftly Humanity Is Advanced: Technologically, at least. Their knowledge of the Source is lacking at best, though they do have some good mages. Humans Are the Real Monsters: They're the Nazis of the setting at their worst. Some provinces however, such as Aynach, subvert this trope entirely. Humans Are Flawed: Imperials Humans at their core aren't entirely evil, just quite flawed and scarred by being abused by others. The Sublime Chivalry of Aynach in particular has cordial relations with factions other humans would treat as enemies. Humans Are Superior: Some think so. Humans Are Warriors: Especially Mannazian Humans. Humanity Is Young: Sort of. Humanity as a whole is quite ancient, but due to being enslaved by elves, they only managed to form their own culture relatively recently. Humans Kill Wantonly: Alhassan Humans. |

Culture Chop Suey |
| SporeWiki Fantasy Universe (Website) / int_df60d405 |
comment |

Fire Keeps It Dead: This is the best way to deal with Idkin. Leaving their corpses to rot normally will lead them to turn into flesh-trees which will eventually give birth to more Idkin, but if you incinerate the remains, they'll stay dead. |

Distracted by the Sexy: The War of Vampires provided two examples: While the hero team was busy discussing about whether they should slay Varelos von Dalverat or not, Alfgund Stonesoul was too busy staring at Dragostea's bosom. When confronted by Nosfer and Golem at Castle Nightshade, Dragostea, Aurora and Khadya did what was essentially a strip-tease show to keep them distracted. It worked very well. |

Running Gag: Stories involving Big Beard Clamak always have a part where he's knocked off his feet. Due to his massive barrel-shaped body, he is unable to get himself back to on his own, sort of like a turtle. He always thanks whoever assists him up with a simple "Thank." If something sexy is happening, the Sea Witch will cast a spell to remove her own eyes and have an Eyeless Face, because she doesn't want to see none of that stuff. |

Beware the Nice Ones: There are some genuinely nice heroes in Koldenwelt. But mess with any of them enough, and you'll learn why they've survived for as long as they did. Eostraeya is the patron goddess of life and the most angelic of the Simulacra. The dwarf warlord who stole her sacred tree in Steel of the Plagued Land was wrapped in roots and forced under the dirt so that she'd make fertilizer out of him. |
