Instantly Proven Wrong: Porky initially laughs at Daffy falling in love with the duck decoy, saying they couldn't mean anything to each other. Daffy and the decoy scoff at him before swimming away with their clockwork children.

Out of Focus: Porky's only appearances in the cartoon are at start, singing Ride, Tenderfoot, Ride and reacting to Daffy riding on the blackface mammy caricature and at the end, insulting Daffy for falling in love with the decoy.

Bowdlerization: When this short aired on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Boomerang, the scene of Daffy riding on a blackface mammy caricature like a horse was cut, either by cutting the scene after Daffy starts vocalizing or cutting before he exits the book.

Shout-Out: At the beginning, Daffy Duck sings "I Can't Get A Long Little Dogie" from Cliff Edwards and his Buckaroos. When seeing the duck decoy, Daffy says "Well, Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar", a reference to a hit song at the time of the same name. While being chased by the Wolf, Daffy stops him saying, "You're a ha-a-a-a-ard man, McGee!" before continuing his chase, a reference to a popular catchphrase from the radio series Fibber McGee and Molly
