The Mr. Men Show is an animated television series adapted from the original Mr. Men animated shows of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, which were based on Roger Hargreaves' book series, Mr. Men and Little Misses. The Mr. Men Show, however, differs from the older versions in that it eschews the morality tale format and takes a sketch comedy approach to the characters. Each episode features short comedy sketches, dance numbers and music videos. It was produced in Glendale, California, by Renegade Animation. The series was directed by Mark Risley; executive producers were Eyrk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier. The show originally aired on February 4, 2008, in the United States and February 25, 2008, in the United Kingdom. It originally aired on on Cartoon Network in the United States, but stopped airing it after the show ended, and reruns in the UK ended in 2015, though all but one UK episodes can be viewed on YouTube ... IN HD!Each episode is made up of two 11-minute shorts. There have been two seasons, each with 26 episodes. There is also an unrelated 1997 series also called The Mr. Men Show that redubbed the UK-French produced Mr. Men and Little Miss shorts and presented them with live-action comedy segments.

The Friends Who Never Hang
The Mr. Men Show / int_1ed73929
comment
The Friends Who Never Hang: Despite having a total of 31 characters by the time the show ended, quite a few characters never hang out with others except they're in groups. Even then, they never had much interaction. This is most likely because the show writers wanted to do more familiar pairings they worked with. While viewers may agree in some way, they also wish that show could do some experimentation. These include: Miss Calamity with any of the second season characters due to the fact she was removed in that season. The only characters she was with Miss Giggles and Mr. Tall in both Miss Sunshine and Mr. Strong's comic, but never interacted. Mr. Fussy and Mr. Grumpy only appeared together in "Flying" and "Shoes". This is likely because they're somewhat similar, even though they aren't. Mr. Funny only interacted with Miss Giggles, Miss Sunshine, Miss Scary, and Mr. Grumpy.

Ruder and Cruder: The show itself in comparison to the rest of the Mr. Men series. The tone is much Denser and Wackier, some gross-out humor is used, and the tone of the show is considerably more mean and cynical. In contrast, the books typically have a laid-backed, lighthearted feel and only rarely use anything seen as "gross", such an instance being a reference to Yellow Snow in Mr. Nonsense's book. The second season's tone was even wackier and more into slapstick. Characters like Mr. Bump and Mr. Quiet's misfortunes got played up more often, and Mr. Rude's flatulence sounds were changed from cartoon honk noises to more realistic flatulence (though this first happened on the official website between the seasons).

"Pan from the Sky" Beginning: "Rainy Day" begins with a shot of the sky before storm clouds begin to cover the sun. The camera then pans down to the ground, where the Mr. Men are doing things in the rain. "Sun and Moon" starts with a shot of the sun in the sky (hence the title) before the camera pans down to Mr. Bump and Miss Sunshine laying down beach towels.

Impossible Leavening: This happened to Miss Calamity in the episode "Restaurants" where she accidentally added too much yeast while making the cinnamon buns. A non-food example happened to Mr. Persnickety in "Trains" after Mr. Rude's collection of instant sponges had water added, which causes him to be stuck in the cabin. Mr. Fussy dealt with this in "Radio" when taking to make a dish Miss Helpful was instructing in her cooking show.

Cultural Translation: Because of cultural differences, the dialogue between the English dubs were changed. Mr. Persnickety was referred to as "Mr. Pernickety" in the first season and his catchphrase was changed from "Sweet Henrietta!" to "Sweet apple strudel!" Some words that are okay in America were changed overseas due to either those countries don't understand or because they might be offensive. Like "buggers" was changed to "nippers" or Miss Helpful's "fanny pack" to "bum bag" due to it being offensive in the UK. The answer Mr. Grumpy states when Miss Sunshine was playing the piano is "Does she have to play like a looney bird?" in the US, but was changed to "Is it the Dillydale National Anthem?". Mr. Grumpy's order of rice and beans was changed to bangers and mash.

The show itself in comparison to the rest of the Mr.

Instant Mass: Just Add Water!: In "Trains", Mr. Rude has a collection of instant sponges that expand when water is added. Mr. Messy accidentally sprayed the cabin that they started erupting, leaving Mr. Persnickety stuck. Miss Helpful was selling packages of instant food in "Cooking". Mr. Scatterbrain thought that it needed to be planted, so he planted all the boxes with water, which actually caused it to make a food tree. Miss Scary in "Gifts" gives Mr. Nervous a box of monster sponges, that like with Mr. Rude's example expand when water is added.

Digital Destruction: The transition of the frogs from "Science" is stuck after Miss Naughty leaves in the US dub, but not in the other dubs. The European dubs have the audio formatted slightly pitched and a bit faster. This is averted for the French audios in the US DVD releases and the separate uploads on the official YouTube page. The official YouTube uploads of the episodes "Radio", "Lunch" and "Surprises" accidentally leave in the internal production slate at the beginning, while "Wildlife" leaves in a couple minutes' worth of black screen after the end of the episode, followed by a version of the intro and end credits without any sounds or text. Like with Transformers Animated, the show was made in 16:9, but as cropped to 4:3 in television airings.

Animesque: This series feels a bit like an anime, especially with the typical Anime sound effects put to use. It also helps that the slight feel of it (ala twinkle eye and pupils disappearing when feared sometimes) is done also by Renegade Animation, the studio behind Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.

The Ditz: Miss Sunshine. She's sweet and adorable, sure. But she hasn't enough brains to fill an eggcup. Miss Chatterbox is frequently too busy talking to pay much attention to anything else she is doing. Mr. Scatterbrain has the attention span of a goldfish; at one point in "Airports", he almost staples his own nose while distracted. Little Miss Whoops is blissfully unaware of the chaos she causes everywhere she goes until it is too late. Miss Helpful is anything but, generally leaving the people she tries to help more lost or frustrated than ever.

New Job as the Plot Demands: In different sketches, various characters will have different jobs. The episode "Jobs" reveals that this is actually a way of life in Dillydale, as everyone gets a new job on Tuesday that lasts for a week. It would seem necessary for them to keep changing jobs - if a certain Mr. Men or Little Miss stayed in one job all the time (such as Mr. Scatterbrain or Little Miss Whoops), they would run the business to the ground or cause lots of destruction with it.

Dropped Glasses: In one part of the episode "Eyeglasses," Miss Whoops, as a flight attendant, accidentally loses her glasses when a pile of carry-on luggage falls on her. Low Clearance: In "Trains", Miss Calamity was riding the rooftops of the Dillydale Express after being locked in the bathroom. But she gets bounced across above the tunnel after hitting it. Mr. Persnickety in "Sightseeing" gets hit during a bus tour from a tunnel due to it being the lowest, and the fact he's taller. He hangs onto the tunnel at the end. This was the main conflict for Mr. Rude's segment in "Trees", when his monster truck was too tall to fit through the tree tunnel.
