Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling is a Japanese women's Professional Wrestling promotion founded by DDT founder Sanshiro Takagi and former NEO booker Tetsuya Koda. As such it's one of the handful of promotions that falls under the DDT umbrella. A fairly recent arrival on the wrestling scene it's quickly risen to be one of the largest joshi promotions in Japan alongside STARDOM.Originally founded in 2012 its first few years were spent with a fairly small roster largely doing small shows and exhibition matches alongside idol lives in live houses around Tokyo before eventually becoming able to run their own shows in small venues. Over the next couple of years the roster would expand and the promotion would start to consistently run larger venues. The popularization of streaming and a partnership with American promotion AEW would expand its audience internationally helped in part by wrestlers like Yuka Sakazaki, Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima and Maki Itoh. By 2020 they even had plans to run a show in the United States before certain global events prevented that from happening.
